Over the past year I’ve found a real love for midi skirts. I think they work really well on me and I always feel pretty epic when I wear them. I’m a huge fan of the structure it gives me as it skims over my hips and it definitely has a feminine flair to it. This Closet London skirt is from the Curves range and is just beautiful. (Also available at Simply Be) It’s a bright red scuba fabric with a gold exposed zip and theres something just a little dramatic about it that I love. It’s high waisted and has a little stretch to it so it’s really comfortable, definitely one of those skirts I’ll keep for a long time because it just looks amazing in my wardrobe to be honest and is a great backup party piece.
I’ve worn it twice so far and both times has been with a crop top. It just sits nicely with that cropped cut, but it would be just as good with a top tucked in or a vest top. The block colour lends itself to you getting away with almost any colour or pattern… it’s one of those things you can be super confident with if the good takes you. I like these pieces because it makes me grab things from my wardrobe which might have been left hanging for a while. I’m wearing a UK 26 and I would say to size up for comfort. As always for reference I’m 5″6.
I’ve also found a haven this summer in lace up sandals. (There will be a blog post coming soon on this!) But I have wide fit and I’ve found that even if the sandals are not wide fit, lace ups are fab because you can extend the lace. There is usually a sufficient amount to do a little bow, where people with standard six feet will wrap the lace around their ankle before tying. It’s all about making it work for you. I love these beige lace ups and there are loads of similar ones around at the moment.
I love this look and it definitely makes me walk with a sashay. (you know exactly what I mean!) It’s nice to be bright, bold and where what makes me feel good. No matter what your size, you deserve to feel good about yourself and what you wear. I think this skirt does the trick.
