Remember the post I did a couple of weeks ago about the gorgeous blogger dinner I attended to celebrate the exciting fashion collaboration between LOOK Magazine and Simply Be? Well, my first item from the range has arrived and I’m pretty awestruck. I decided to give the floral print jumpsuit a go!
So, I had some doubts at first. The usual am I tall enough? Are my legs too long? Will the dreaded camel toe appear and generally would I look like a clown in my pyjamas? But, the jumpsuit itself looked gorgeous when I saw it in person. The stretchy material and bright colours won be over and I wanted to test drive it myself. I have to say that Simply Be have been doing rather well in the plus size fashion stakes lately. They seem to be able to get the balance just right in terms of the clothes being fashionable, trendy and wearable.
By the way, this is the first outfit post which I did outside. It was a lovely day and the jumpsuit was too nice to just put on on in the house. I wanted to introduce it to the South of London where greenery is rare and funny stares are common. But I’ll definitely be doing more of these. Wind in my hair and all that.
As it was the evening, I decided to pair the jumpsuit with my staple PU biker jacket which is also from Simply Be and some basic wedges. I definitely plan to wear this in the warmer weather with some sandals and a wide brim sun hat. Very Hollywood. The jumpsuit is so easy to wear. I mean you literally climb into it (I was worried about my hips, but there is so much stretch it wasn’t even an issue). You do up the button at the very top which you can do yourself, give the outfit a little maneuver so it doesn’t wrap itself in unwanted places and you are good to go!
The outfit is super comfortable and once I got used to the idea that it was definitely unique (and rare for a larger girl to dare wear something so bright in these parts) it was a lovely outfit to wear. I felt great in it. It was a perfect length for me. I’m 5″6 but have large thighs etc, but the good thing about this is that if you are on the shorter side the elasticated waist band lets you move it up a little. I felt the wide legs balanced out my quite large shoulders and the elasticated waist didn’t cut me in half but helped to define my waist a little.
I was also slightly worried about it being one of those outfits which turned my belly into a massive water balloon! But actually, it’s pretty flattering, even if I do say so myself. The material is quite textured, a soft gauzy texture which feels gentle against the skin. The emerald green is striking against the white and black, it’s definitely a unique addition to my wardrobe. Another important point is that I found it true to size. I’m a 22. If I got a size 20 it would have been to ‘tight’ looking even though it would have fitted and the dreaded camel toe may have invaded town. If I had a size 24 it would have simply been just too baggy.
So the perks are… no camel toe with a little pulling around of the elasticated waist, a decent length that can be altered by moving the waistband and a gorgeous print which can be dressed up or down and at the current price of £60 and in sizes 12 -26 it’s an outfit which will last through summer and even Autumn with an over-sized jumper or cardigan..or biker jacket like me!
