I popped into the Simply Be Oxford Street store last week and it’s a great feeling being able to impulse buy on the high street. I had a little look around and it’s really evident that everything is a little bit in-between seasons now. So while I’m making purchases that are still summer ready I’m thinking about how I can adjust them once autumn begins it journey upon us. This cold shoulder oxblood dress called me straight away.
The cold shoulders are tied up meaning this dress is perfect for broad shoulders as you can adjust where necessary. It’s also perfect for summer with its floaty feel and light weight material. I love the colour too; it’s quite a dark burgundy so goes gorgeous with gold accessories for summer. I wore it with a pair of pretty simple wide fit gold sandals. I found the elasticated waistband ok although it did shift a little making the dress look a little disordered at times BUT it made it super comfortable. Spot on for me when I’m running around catching balls and eating cake in the sun.
I was thinking about just popping over a thick cardigan or jumper in autumn with tights and boots for that laid back layered look. It really works for me and I love interchangeable pieces in my wardrobe. I’ve definitely thought more about that lately, I hate just having stuff hanging there as by the time summer comes again things lose it’s charm, so this year I’m trying to think ahead. I picked this dress up in a 24 and it’s a spot on fit. Completely true to size.
I went for a picnic in Abbots Wood last week for a friend’s birthday. It was a gorgeous day with just enough breeze to stop the heat being overbearing. Considering it was so busy the woods seemed relaxingly quiet and pretty mystical. It was all very enchanted forest with weird tree trunks and sunbeams seeping through the branches. I had a lovely day and this Simply Be dress was the perfect piece for a chilled out afternoon.
