We all take pride in our homes and go through stages of renovating different areas, or refreshing different rooms in order to keep the house looking different and nice for your family and any guests that stop through. One of the areas of your home that can get overlooked easily is the entrance way and the hallway of your home. These areas can make a big difference to the overall look and feel of your home as they can take up a large part of the space and are often the first impression that your house will make on guests and visitors.

Outside
If you live in a house, start outside by standing outside your front door and look at what other people see when they come to the house. This view can be something that is easy to overlook when you see it multiple times a day for several years! Check your front garden – does the grass need mowing? Do the flowers or plants needing some TLC? Make a list of all the small improvements that can be made across a weekend. Spend a couple of hours cutting the grass and weeding your flower beds and you will notice an immediate improvement. Sweep up any fallen leaves and get rid of any moss or weeds that may be growing through the pavement cracks – these can be easily treated with a weed killer. Be sure to use a tarpaulin sheet to keep all the garden waste on – this will make cleaning easier but will also ensure you preserve all your hard work by keeping dirt and weeds off the grass!

Exterior
Admiring your handiwork of your front garden, turn your attention to the exterior of the front of the house and see what improvements can be made to the exterior of your house. Paintwork and brickwork can easily become dirty and muddy, especially in countries with a lot of bad weather such as the UK! Painting is a big job that would cost a lot of time and money, so see if there’s any spot cleaning that can be done instead. You could paint over very particular spots of bad paintwork, or even use a pressure washer to get the worst of the dirt off some of the paint or brickwork. Pressure washers are also great for your patio or pavement and will remove years of stubborn dirt from your driveway in an instant.

Finishing Touches
No entrance to your home would be complete without finishing touches. Your windows can really be a hotbed for dirt and as most people’s window frames tend to be white or a light colour, the dirt can really show up, no matter the season. Spend a valuable few hours scrubbing your window frames on a free day to really make them shine. This can make a drastic improvement to the outside of your home without even realising. Get a good window cleaner to make the glass sparkle and you will notice the difference! This is also the same for your front door – it can easily look old and tired after a few years. Invest in some plant pots for the outside of your front door and fill them with your favourite colourful flowers to brighten up the outside of your home for the final finishing touch and, voila! Your home will look brand new with minimal effort and money before you know it.
