I remember when it was almost impossible to buy fashionable plus size clothing, that and the fact I was so insecure I’d probably walk past a pretty dress thinking I couldn’t wear it until I had lost weight. (If you think that please DON’T life is too short!) However, times progress and plus size fashion has been making steps. High street brands are branching into the plus size market and there are small start ups trying to make way. There’s still leaps and bounds to be made but I feel like theres little steps being taken. One of this little steps (which is actually HUGE in the big scheme of things) is by new plus size brand NV Me, NV My Curves. Just launched on ASOS they are a Manchester based brand focusing on fast fashion for the fuller figure. Right up my street… so I tried out a couple of dresses…
First up, the sizing is really, really good. I’m a 24/26 and these dresses are a 24. as you can see there’s space for spread and movement. It’s a true to size fit, exactly how it should be. This midi dress with an open back does up with a tie around the neck with a super long string. It’s one of those small features that makes a big different. Why? Because it doesn’t matter how large your arms are, how broad or wide your shoulders are, the thickness of your neck or how big your bust is. You can fasten this dress to comfortably fit you. I told you… small things. It’s a little open at the back and has a stretchy waistline for comfort. It isn’t lined so perfect for this warm weather and summer holidays.
Secondly is this gorgeous off the shoulder patchwork dress. This look seem to be everywhere for spring and summer 2016. I like this dress because it shows off enough skin in summer but for those who are a little unsure of showing all their arms it adds a little coverage. It’s elasticated at the shoulders and the waist, once again for comfort and it comes with removable straps for added support. Like I said.. this little things make a big different. The same as the first dress, it’s unlined and floaty, perfect for summer fun, festivals and holidays. I’m 5″6 so that can give you some perspective on length. It’s a gorgeous dress and makes me feel like I’m gently blowing in the wind in a music video! Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks things like that!
What I want to stress is that NVME is a new brand by a small team who want to push for fun plus size pieces with those little thought out things. It’s SO SO hard to start up something like this. From sourcing, fitting, creating, budgeting and then to get it on somewhere that everyone has access to like ASOS is REALLY hard. Yes, at the moment they are reaching up to the size 24/26 mark and have a few pieces on offer. But with time, they’ll be able to expand and really reach out to all sizes and fashion tastes. I admire them for being passionate, seeing what they want and attempting to do it. Plus, the dresses are amazing too!
