A couple of weeks ago I went to a really exciting Swap Shop Blogger Party held by Vouchercodes.co.uk. It was the second evening of its kind and I was pretty eager to get there and find out what it was all about.
The invite stated that I needed to dig out 5 items that I wanted to swap… when I arrived this would be exchanged for a little card and 5 stamps… plus an extra one if I tweeted or popped my items up on Instagram of what I planned to swap (of course I did this!). There was also the promise of cupcakes, cocktails and crafts so my arm was officially twisted.
The evening itself started off with myself and fellow blogging friend Nicole from The Life of a Beauty Addict headed for a bite to eat before heading to Charing Cross. The Swap Shop was being held in the trendy Gallery Soho which was an intimate venue perfect for everyone to have a chit chat and boy were there a lot of bloggers!
The first part of the evening was handing over your items and then heading to grab a cocktail. I also had a sneaky cupcake but did admire the mini fried chicken in cones that was working its way around the room. Some bloggers were doing some craft bits with tights and belts while I went back to my child hood days and got a pretty amazing hat made from balloons. This woman was seriously talented. She snipped, bent, twisted and even lit up balloons without so much as a pop! This was balloon modelling at its best from Twistina.
Then they announced the top floor was open. It was like a 9am sale zone! It was great fun but you had to be quick. Before you knew it the rails were half of what there were and people were looking pleased with themselves. While the crowd went wild some of us decided to make use of the entertaining photo booth that was available.
I managed to grab myself a monochrome Simply Be Shirt, an ASOS skirt, Dorothy Perkins Skirt, Matalan Bag, some block heel shoes and a gorgeous necklace! Each rail was divided into ‘stamps’ so you could decide how you spent yours. So for example, my necklace was 1 stamp.
What was nice for me was that there were all kinds of fashion and beauty bloggers there. I even manage to find a couple of plus size pieces which I wasn’t sure I would. It was great to see some familiar faces and as always meet new ones. Plus I feel like I have been shopping… for free!
Also to mention, the pretty bag was pretty generous! I had 3 necklaces from Dorothy Perkins, a Matalan voucher, a Boden purse and a few other bits and pieces. Literally very spoilt! I LOVE the idea of swap shop parties and after being to one I can’t wait for the next. The voucher codes blogger swap shop party was a great evening and something a little different. (Big Thank you!) and I hope to see you all swapping at the next one!
