I have decided I adore those secret little boutique shops on the high street. You know the ones. Those pretty, well thought out, individual shops bursting with character and crying out for customers. Don’t get me wrong, the chain stored obviously have a lot going for them hence why we shop in them. But the magic of going into an independent shop is pretty warming.
Because of this, once a month I am going to champion a shop on the high street. An independent, self run shop which survives on word of mouth, beautiful products and the friendly nature of the hard working staff. We hear about saving the high street all the time, this is my Hooray, even if they don’t float your boat, share the love because I guarantee someone someones elses boat will be sailing off in the distance after seeing the wares these shops have on offer.
Know a high street shop that needs a Hooray? Let me know! 🙂

The Bay Tree
Gifts & Home Accessories
I love quirky items and I like finding little treasures on the high street hidden among the large shop chains, supermarket after supermarket and the increasing amount of pound-lands everywhere! (I need them too, but not 5 in a row!)
I was having a little stroll around before lunch today and came across this lovely little trinket shop, The Bay Tree. Its based in North Chingford, just out of Waltham Forest in London. Not my usual window shopping patch but as I was in the area, might as well explore it!
It’s a gift and home accessories shop. A pretty little boutique that any magpie would love to nest in. What’s even better is I just found out they have an online shop! Here. Someone hide my credit card. Please!
It’s a new shop, launched in 2012 and their website was up and running earlier this year. It is owned and run by two LOVELY ladies – Vivienne & Sue. Who not only have s great sense of humour as my friend and I circled the shop for the 100th time, but their patience and attention to detail is beyond compare to any larger named shops.
If you are looking for something charmingly unique, shabby chic or just very pretty then you NEED to check them out. Their range is ever changing and the prices are considerably competitive.
The proof is in the pudding, so these are the gems I got today!
Each item was preciously wrapped in crispy tissue paper with a delicate Bay Tree Direct sticker keeping the parcel neat and tidy. They were then delicately places into a classic brown bag with a Bay Tree Direct Tag tied on lovingly.
Take a look of the shop itself… I told you it was like walking into a treasure cave!
These are the gorgeous items that I bought. 2 white ceramic vases, quirky notebooks, drawer hangers, plaques and a yummy bomb cosmetics hand soap.
This was one of my fave buys. Its a 100% cotton scarf which feels like air. The print and detail is so pretty and I actually went back in to buy it! Slap my hand.
My pictures don’t do the shop justice but it really is a high street delight. So if you are ever strolling down Station Road In Chingford, or looking for a quirky online shop, then keep them in mind.
Do something now and follow them on Facebook – The Bay Tree On Facebook.
