I have something mega exciting happening this year. I’m having a four month sabbatical from work. You’ll either be sitting there, joining me in a little fist pump, or you’ll be sitting wondering what the heck a sabbatical is. Well, basically, it’s taking time out from my job. Unpaid leave is a simple way of putting it. I’m still employed, my job is safe but I just get to bow out for a while. This is going to be the first time in almost 14 years that I won’t have a salary coming in and will be the longest time I’ve ever had to just do me. It’s super scary but so exciting. Of course, finances will be tight. But my aim is to do a little bit… well… a fair bit of travelling. It’s also my 30th year on earth so I want to make it epic.
I’ve been having a look at holiday sites and found this awesome competition all about Holiday Heroes. It was a competition looking for those that go the extra mile to help out, people that give up their time to volunteer or generally those that help put a smile on your face on a daily basis. Charlene the founder of the RockUs Choir won the competition and it’s pretty lovely to read about her. bringing people together, helping build confidence. It’s amazing how small things make huge changes. It’s definitely made me think about what I want to spend my time on while I’m off work. Some mini new years resolutions.
But for now, I’m thinking about where I want to visit this year. Think of it like a small travel bucket list and then I’ll incorporate how I can share a little positivity along my journeys just like Charlene.
Toronto
Not only to see what this super friendly place has to offer and the amazing views, but, I get to see my bestie again who moved back to Canada at the end of 2015. This is one trip that I wont mind putting on the credit card.
Thailand
My list just wouldn’t be complete without including Thailand. The Kingdom is one of the most popular destinations from tourism in the world and it’s not difficult to see why. There is so much to do and so much to see; from the ancient temples in the north of the Region, white sand beaches in southern Phuket or snorkelling on a relaxing Phi Phi Island Boat Tour during the day. There is something for everybody.
Barbados
This is pushing the boat out a bit, but this is my dream location. This would be a dream come true and somehow I want to make it happen. Sun, sea and sand. Plus bikinis, oh my, bikinis!
Rome
A quick and little city break. I’d love to see the architecture and the amazing atmosphere that Rome has to offer.
So I want to be a little bit nicer, a little bit more relaxed and a little bit more travelled in 2016.
