Happy New Year Everyone!
It’s time for the Outside My Comfort Zone Challenge. Yes it’s the first day of the year but what a cracking post to start off with. Confidence, a challenge and a bit of love from the blogging community. This is what I call starting as I mean to go on.
The lovely Betty (as she is known to some!) over at Big Fat Betty chose the theme this time and opted for Pretty Pencils. The aim was to share how we style pencil skirts which while being a gorgeously feminine item of clothing, skimming curves and screaming LADY, it always has the power to make me feel incredibly insecure. Because it hides NOTHING! So, just like Betty I’m looking forward to seeing how the other gorgeous ladies style them.
Jacket: Dorothy Perkins, Necklace : River Island, Skirt: ASOS, Shoes: Simply Be
I decided to just go all out with my pencil skirt and try something new. That’s the point of the challenge! Its a bodycon style pencil skirt from ASOS Curve. Clingy and stretchy but with a gorgeous print. I haven’t worn it yet, purely because I couldn’t find anything that matched and it really does skim EVERY curve.
As soon as I put this on, I thought ok then… wow… it actually looks pretty hot. I remember seeing a plus size model wear a similar skirt. She wore it high waisted with a belly top. She instantly embedded that image into my head because she looked like a queen. I opted for the same sort of look but with a black vest tucked into the skirt and a short tailored jacket which I think really gives me quite an hour glass shape. From the front anyway!
I really like pencil skirts. They instantly make me feel grown up and with a slight sexy edge. Getting in and out the car can be a pickle but I know have the sit and swing method well and truly in place. They are perfect for work and although the belly isn’t the most flattering area when wearing pencil skirts I think there are so many styles and designs now that you can find one that makes you feel good.
They usually stretch too so are pretty comfortable although you have to get used to the feeling like a penguin for a few minutes until you realise you can move about.
What do you think of my pencil skirt? I know some of the other bloggers grabbed it like I did when it went into the ASOS sale. It’s in the sale now HERE for £13.00 so grab yourself a bargain!
