When we were asked by the lovely ladies at Hotter Shoes to attend an event with them and Taking Shape, I wasn’t sure. I love Hotter shoes and the boots I have from them are great, but after the ‘Skinny Bird’ watching saga with Taking Shape I wasn’t sure I wanted to associate with a brand that I felt had ‘body shamed’. I’ll always be honest in my posts, I thought I’d give them a chance. I know that sometimes, PR companies get it wrong and I wanted to see what the brand themselves were actually like. I’ve grown to really embrace the body confidence no body shaming battle so I had to put this is this post. But, we were really surprised by the team and incredibly happy, So myself and Katie did another #2plus2 collaboration!
Let me just say, Taking Shape wiped the floor with the bad press they have had. I mean the ladies at the Kingston store were just lovely. they were passionate, dedicated and had a real urge to make women (ALL women) feel good about themselves. There were people of all different body sizes and shapes at the event and the Taking Shape team were thriving in the buzz of it all. I even mentioned to Katie that they need to really take on board what this store and the people in it are about and poetry the through their PR as it’s a completely different vibe compared to whats already been portrayed.
So Katie and I tried on lots, and lots of stuff. Taking Shape is all about layering. Once you know this, it all makes sense. They are about creating versatile outfits that can be changed depending on how you feel, the weather, occasion etc and suddenly their range has a huge amount of potential. They also call their fitting rooms retreats which gives you an idea of the service you’ll get in any store!
After eating, drinking and trying clothes on to our hearts content (what could be better?!) we went around the corner to the gorgeous Hotter Kingston store. It was like walking into a freshly decorated, new home. It really was lovely. It’s spacious, bright and incredibly welcoming. Country style armchairs placed in perfect positions on soft carpets, I could have moved in.
I tried on some very comfortable shoes but these really court my eye and I ended up going home with them. Plus, I left with this gorgeous, absolutely stunning summer grab bag that I’ve already included in a blog post and spammed Instagram with. It’s just a perfect bag in terms of size, shape, weight… everything! The thing about Hotter shoes that I love is that they have this ‘comfort concept’ which means they really are easy to were and great for summer when my feet get hot!
I have to say Katie and I spent the whole evening with Hotter and Taking Shape. It was lovely that 2 brands on the same high street had come together to create a total shopping experience. I hope it’s something they continue doing as it’s quite different and definitely adds to any shopping trip. Katie and I had a great time and we’ll be going back to both stores for sure.
