Plus London 2013

DAY ONE – BRAND DAY

Where do I start!? It was a fun, enlightening and just uplifting weekend. I and my gorgeous friend Emma (who travelled to London especially) had a girlie weekend while travelling to and from the trendy hub that is Hoxton in Shoreditch.

Let’s break it down.  Plus London 2013 was a weekend for the plus size community to engage, create and learn. Based over 2 days (and an after dark session!) it had so much going on and there was something for the watchers, talkers and doers!

I didn’t know what to expect. This is my first Plus London and although the organisers …… don’t know if they are doing a number 4 I put out a public plea to PLEASE think about a Plus London 4. You can out my name down already.

I started writing this thinking I could just do one post for both days. But I have so much to day I don’t have a choice but to break it up into 2 blog posts. So keep checking back for my review of day 2!

Saturday – Brand Day

This was a fun filled day where we got to mingle with the plus size brands that we love. The lovely ladies from Simply Be were there along with a talented sketcher & illustrator by the name of Clyn. He did a quick sketch of anyone that didn’t mind being watch for a couple of minutes and I think mine is rather good. He has made it very flattering!

The fabulous Curvissa ladies were also their representing plus size fashion and got me tempted into buying a lovely tartan skirt. It’s on my wish list! They brought along with them Betty Pamper and Lilly Von Pink from The Pamper Box. They were treating us to a little Vintage Glamour. I got my hair done which I was over the moon about! I actually slept with it still in! Next step is to learn to do this myself. Wish me luck.

I felt like a model as I had my pictures taken by Blast! And Curvy Kate gave me a bra fitting which has changed my life. Not even joking… more to come on this in a different blog post.

I also spent a little of my hard earned cash and bought some fun vintage items from Red Bows Boutique and I also had a little fun dressing up in her vintage wardrobe!

I bought a gorgeous PU details top from Miss Lacy and a very pretty heart shaped resin ring full of glitter from the gorgeous Twisted Siren. (More on these in a blog post coming soon!) I have a to do list as long as my arm after the brand day. One of those things is to message the very amazing Black Heart Creatives and ask if they would kindly make my blog name into a laser cut necklace!

Throughout the day there were brand talks and seminars allowing people to ask questions in an open and honest forum. It was really interesting to hear the brands talk about their journeys and missions. Nice to see the faces behind the products too!

Although we missed the evening I heard burlesque bombshell Diablo Daniels performed and she rocked the room! I’m sad I missed it but I had a fantastic day. I met so many people and talked about so many different things. Everyone just got on like we all knew each other.

Absolute thumbs up for day one. Now roll on day two and the review…
