I haven’t kept it a mega secret, but at the same time I know I haven’t screamed it from the rooftops either. A month or so ago we made a massive move. We upped sticks and moved from London to Nottingham. Slightly crazy and a massive change for someone who has lived in London all her life but it made sense. London is so expensive, I mean to have a family and enough space if you’re renting privately is almost impossible. Of course, we were used to the minimal space but when you’re put in a position where your landlord is selling up and you HAVE to leave… well… you start to think outside the box.
So we moved a couple of hundred miles away to the East Midlands. The hardest thing for me is just not knowing where I am. Sounds obvious. But it’s not the new house, neighbours etc. It’s the knowing exactly where everything is. I know in London that Soho and Shoreditch are the places to explore for cool eats and funky spots. I know that Notting Hill is the Instagram home for coloured houses and minimalist backdrops. I know that Peckham, the area I grew up in has changed by mountains over the last couple of years but I STILL know where I can get an instant eyebrow threading and nail infills. It’s those things. That comfort. There are a million things I could touch on. But I know I’ll get there.
I did go on a little adventure a few days ago and went to explore a little bit of Nottingham. I went to a blogger event at The Hockley Arts Club. A (very) hidden gem. It’s close to the town centre and that’s as much as I can tell you location wise. I’m still learning! Ha! But it gave me a chance to pop on a new outfit and put a little makeup on. There’s a lot to be said about a new outfit. I’m a great believer that although self-confidence is from within, wearing something that makes you feel good puts you halfway there. I was a little apprehensive at first, in London, you can blend in no matter what you look like or what you wear. But it wasn’t that bad, venturing into the unknown. Something about the bright pink I was wearing put a bit of assertiveness in my step.
This gorgeous hot pink top from Lovedrobe with double layer cuffs is just so gorgeous. The colour is AMAZING for summer. I feel like it’s a statement piece but in such a simple way. You can wear it with everything from skinny jeans to tucking it into a maxi skirt. I wore it because wearing bright colours not only picks me up a little but also gives me a little boost of confidence. There’s also something about a floating cuff for me that oozes a bit of simple style. It’s available in sizes 16 – 30 too. I’d advise to size up if you have large arms but it’s generous around the tummy area.
I love that Lovedrobe isn’t scared to offer bright colours and fabulous prints. I find their pieces so versatile too. So they’re easily dressed up or down for work or play. Nothing like getting the most out of your wardrobe!
Ironically, The Hockley Arts Club had a room decorated with faux pink blossom. It was pretty spectacular and my hot pink top fitted in perfectly. It was almost like I was a regular at the venue. If only they knew that I had no idea where I was!
If you fancy treating yourself to a little Lovedrobe pick me up, here’s a fabulous 20% off for you! Use code HOLLIE20 and give yourself a little treat. I haven’t quite found my feet here in Nottingham yet so I’m just going to have to grab a few more outfits to help me bounce around with a little more confidence in a strange place.
