I read something on Twitter last night while browsing through the tweets of fashion and beauty bloggers. I didn’t bother me at first; I read it and moved on. There is always so much to read and such little time, it didn’t even make a huge impact on me then and there. I have no idea why there was such a time delay, but this morning I woke up and that particular tweet was still on my mind. It went something along the lines of:

‘’The unofficial rule of blogging is, you have to be thin to be successful’’.

Read that again.

Are you freaking kidding me guys! Yes! No! How unfair and utterly untrue!

Don’t get me wrong, I have insecurities bigger than the Eiffel Tower and could never fit into a one off Vivienne Westwood Dress but that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to ROCK a Vivienne Westwood dress! (Who I must add, I absolutely love because of her unique style!)

Just because I can’t make my own chocolate profiteroles doesn’t mean that I can’t eat them or discuss how much I like eating them! Are you with me?

It really did bother me because as a larger girl it made me thing what is the point in doing this blog then? If there is no chance of people reading it or liking it? What is the point because I am not a size 2 then my views will be disregarded?

I then remembered a great cliché. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If people are as narrow minded as to believe that my fashion sense is blighted because I can’t wear a pair of Chanel skinny trousers then to be honest, feel free to keep clicking to the next blog. I want to empower people and inspire people, not make them feel inadequate. Yes, I may adore that Herve Leger dress and know every single fine detail there is to know about it. The fact they don’t do my size is disappointing but doesn’t mean I don’t have an opinion on it. A good opinion at that.

Everyone is individual and success comes from honesty, hard work, creativity, knowledge and passion. I love fashion, I love beauty and I love being happy. That is what my blog is about. About being confident in whatever you want to wear, from wherever you bought it and however you want to wear it, beauty is from the inside out.

Big girls like fashion too and believe it or not probably are much more savvy because of the fashion ‘dead end’ on anything over a size 14. So believe me when I say that you DON’T have to be thin to be successful.

I would love to be a successful blogger and get gazillions of views, comments and followers around the world having a peak at what I am talking about. That is what blogging is all about. But to say I won’t be successful because I am not thin. Well, I beg to differ.
