I am a member of the NEXT Blogger Network and I have to admit they really are great and take blogger engagement seriously. They take on our ideas, suggestions and also give back in the form of networking events and regular emails. This time they have created an exciting competition which I couldn’t resist throwing my hand too!
The aim of this one is to create an outfit that I would wear to London Fashion Week and of course, dressing myself from head to toe in NEXT! I thought this was a pretty easy task but when I got going I ended up creating 4 or 5 outfits and I am struggling to choose which one to enter!
I opted for this simple but classic style. A Classic monochrome Medley.
Spring & Summer 2014 is all about pastels BUT black and white has maintained its fashion power and is keeping it’s post on the rails.
1. Patent Leather Shoes – These literally make my mouth water. They have been on my wish list since NEXT gave their Spring & Summer preview. I love them. London Fashion Week is an all day affair, so let’s be fashionable and comfortable!
2. Cream Utility Shirt – A basic but classic utility shirt. Effortless style that will flatter any shape in any weather. (We love good old London weather!) I would tuck this loosely into the skirt to create that simple chic style.
3. Tweed Waterfall Coat – Texture isn’t going anywhere and as I said, the lovely London weather is far from a sunny haven, this gorgeous grey tweed coat with its hidden fastening will do just the trick to keep me fashionably warm. I really like the waterfall style so it flatters and will give a flash of the great outfit underneath.
4. Black Check Mesh Skirt – I’d flash a bit of flesh in this sheer bottom skirt. It’s been seen everywhere lately and I like the patterned take that NEXT have done with it. This skirt is the key piece of this outfit. Everything else is simple, basic cuts and classic in order to really show off this skirt.
5. Silver Cube Chain Necklace – You can’t go to London Fashion Week without having a little big of sparkle. I chose this cube necklace to echo the design of the skirt and to balance the shirt out with the rest of the outfit. Tucked under the collar I think it’s the perfect magpie piece.
6. Soft Cuff Clutch Bag – Adding another touch of metallic shimmer which is going to flourish in Spring & Summer, this soft clutch bag can be bent, grabbed and partied around. Looking casual but groomed it’s a dim metallic so no cheap shiny stuff here. A fabulous way to hide that lip-gloss!
There you have it. My perfect outfit for London Fashion Weekend. Keeping it simple means I can mingle in confidence and hopefully have that effortless style. Think Victoria Beckham or Lucas Nascimento and I think this outfit would win their approval!
