There’s a lot to be said for this grey weather pulling people into a down and dreary mood, so if the sun is hidden away it seems we try and hide away too. But I’ve realised that when I wear brighter colours, it just puts me in a perkier mood. A perfect example of this is this gorgeously bright floral shift dress from Pink Clove. It’s quite a light fabric and the floral print is right up my street. The colours are really quite warming with blues and purples and because it’s on the berry shade front it’s still perfect for autumn. It would be a great base for layering under long cardigans and fur gillets.
Sometimes shift dresses don’t fit me if they are super straight. I am pretty round and my belly and hips tend to stretch the dress out of shape. What I love about this dress is that it’s almost just like an oversized T Shirt dress but it does actually have a little shape to it. It nips in at the waist just a little which for me really works.
It’s a light weight jersey fabric and it does ride up a bit so I would lean towards leggings or thick tights to stop the static. It is on the short side for me (I’m just under 5″6) but I do love a shorter dress and dark tights with ankle boots. I just feel quite powerful! I must say it was quite funny when I wore this outfit to the seafront in Bournemouth. Everyone did a slight double take and I can only assumes it was because I looked pretty bright against the grey clouds and sea. I really love this dress and it’s so easy and comfortable to wear. It’s one of those versatile pieces that I’ll find myself going to again and again.
It’s available in sizes 16-28. I sized up because I find Pink Clove a little small and with shift dresses I like a little extra movement. I know I’ll be wearing this dress throughout autumn but I hope it wears well enough because it’s a beauty of a summer dress too!
