Every autumn, I go on the hunt for boots that look good, feel comfortable, and actually fit wider feet. This year, I struck gold with the Pippie brown suede ankle boots from Dune London. They come in wide fit, and while I was sceptical about them fitting, they are absolutely brilliant!
Let’s start with the look. The suede is gorgeous! A rich, warm brown that feels earthy and autumnal, like it was made to be worn with chunky knit sweaters and long coats. They’ve got that effortless “throw on with anything” vibe, whether you’re pairing them with skinny jeans, a midi skirt, or tights and a dress. Brown suede always feels a bit more relaxed than sleek leather, so they cater for casual chic, but still polished enough for dinner or the office. We always want our shoes to be as versatile as possible. Right?
The best part though? The fit. Too often, “wide fit” boots are just regular boots that pinch less, but these genuinely feel like they were designed with wider feet in mind. The toe area has space without looking clunky, and the side zip makes them super easy to slip on and off – and it goes up on my chunky ankles with ease. The block heel is just the right height — it gives you a lift without feeling like hard work to walk in. (I’m totally over uncomfortable boots.) I’ve worn them for errands, lunch with friends, and even a quick evening out, and they’ve held up well. My feet didn’t feel squashed, which is saying something if you’ve struggled with high street boots before. Dune has always been one of those reliable high-street brands for shoes that manage to balance style with quality, and these boots are a great example of that.
They’re not perfect, of course. Suede always needs a bit of love and care. Spray them with protector before you step into damp weather, and give them a brush now and then to keep them looking fresh. The sole could be a little more cushioned if you’re planning on walking all day, but a soft insole would easily fix that.
Overall, the Pippie boots are a big tick for plus-size autumn fashion: stylish, versatile, and comfortable in a way that doesn’t feel like you’re compromising. They’ve quickly become my go-to for this season, and honestly, they make me look forward to getting dressed when the weather turns cold.
