Over the past few years I’ve been a bit of a festival fan. Attending the likes of Wireless, Splendour, Lovebox… the list goes on (although I’d love to go to Glasto one year!) it’s always an awesome experience. But the one thing I’ve always missed out on is being able to walk, dance, run and jump without fear of getting ankle deep in mud. I’ve always had to pop on some converse or ankle boots and hope for the best. Where were Wide Wellies when I needed them!? I REALLY wish I had these awesome pair of wellies back then and believe me, they are, and have been getting a lot of use in the wet weather we’ve just started to get. Dare I say it… bring on the snow!

Wide Wellies Review

Wide Fit floral Wellies Review

Wide Wellies are from the parent company JJ Footwear and they provide fun and wearable wellies up to a calf width of 54cm. I always tell you that I have wide calves so wellies have always been out of the question for me. Until now! I ordered a size 41 (I’m a UK 7) and my calf measured at 54cm meaning I needed XXL. I was the largest size that the wellies went up to so I was pretty apprehensive about them fitting. I don’t know about you but theres always a different between something fitting and actually looking how you want them too. So I want wellies that have space around my leg so I can wear jeans or thick socks. I want them to look like Wellies and not like I have a piece of plastic stuck to my leg and I’m trying to escape! I’m sure you know what I mean. I can’t tell you how amazed I was when the rain boots turned up. They slipped on with zero problems. If anything, I think they are pretty generous and I could have gone down a size in the foot. Seriously, I couldn’t believe it. The first time I’ve EVER worn a pair of full length wellington boots. I tried them on with jeans and I had so much space. I’m on the look out for knee high socks now that will fit my calf so I can wear them underneath. (Wide Wellies maybe you should look into these too? Pretty please!)

The boots are amazing quality I have to say. They are far from flimsy and have a removable footbed. The sole is incredibly sturdy and I feel like I could jump around in any mud filled festival or walk through a mud stream and be absolutely fine. They are also pretty long and come just under my knee which is perfect. Because they are such good quality I think they’ll last a very, very long time. There’s something about this floral design that I’d wear with anything to be honest. It’s fun and theres something about wellies that just let you get away with anything… almost.

Wide Fit Wellies

If you want some wide fit wellies, rain boots, walking boots or just some fun footwear these are a must. Don’t be put off by the 54cm limit as I’d say mine were easily an inch or more bigger. So much so that I can take them off without using my hands (you’ll know what I mean if you’re a boot wearer!). There are some great designs to choose from (my second favourite pair were the black and white polka dots) and some classic designs if you want something a little less bright. I give JJ footwear a huge round of applause with these.

It’s great to encourage brands like this to make wide fitting boots where so many brands fail. I don’t mean boots that just about fit if you’re lucky. I’m talking boots that have a purpose, look great, are comfortable and fit without making me feel like I should be different. So, give these guys a follow on their social media. I think they deserve it. Find Wide Wellies on Pinterest, Facebook & Twitter.
