I don’t have curly hair. In fact I have the straightest of the straight hair. So anything to push it slightly in the direction of any where close to dream curls is worth a try. That’s why I gave these Frizz Ease, Dreams Curls Shampoo and Conditioner from John Frieda a go.
I’ve used many, many curl enhancers but never a shampoo and conditioner. The problem is that my hair is quite fine and greasy; usually curl enhancing products are made to condition and hydrate. My hair has too much hydration as it is so I’ve always thought it would be too heavy for my hair. But that wasn’t the case with the Dream Curls products. It also helped that I read a review last year from one of my fellow bloggers Becky Bedbug who gave John Frieda a glowing recommendation so I had high hopes!
First of all both the shampoo and conditioner were really light. Not as thick as I expected and almost serum like. A lovely fresh fragrance and most importantly made my hair fresh and clean. After I had washed and dried my hair (the conditioner was pretty decent and untangling too!) I went for the quick hairdryer option and blasted my hair to give it some volume.
Thankfully it wasn’t greasy (hooray) but wasn’t as flyaway as it usually is! (Think static from a balloon and this is my post clean hair look). It was such a relief that my hair took really well to the products. Especially the conditioner, that’s usually too heavy for my fine locks.
As for the dream curls effect, Well, I don’t have curly hair but on this occasion my hair did get styled with curling tongs. The trick is that I did get my hair styled for me at an event I went to. So I had to prepare my hair to the best of it’s ability and I think it worked. Getting my hair styled is not something I do often. Even using a heated curling tong doesn’t happen often as it goes a bit made a flyaway and looks more like a birds nest than glamorous curls. But I would love to have curls like Margot Robbie! Check out her hair at the Oscars. That’s what you call glamorous curls!
I have to say my curls were much more defined than normal and had a lovely shine to them. I didn’t have as many fly away strands (although they are impossible to get rid of completely) but I think the John Frieda Dream Curls shampoo and conditioner did help to give my hair a bit more oomph. Yes, it was styled for me BUT knowing my hair (I have it 24/7) the shampoo and conditioner definitely had an input.
I wouldn’t use it every day as my straight hair wouldn’t benefit but for the days when I plan on giving myself some curls these will definitely be part of the regime. Every little helps and my curls were definitely more defined and sleek after using these two products.
