Flying has to be the worst thing about travelling. You have to deal with big queues and it’s so uncomfortable on a plane. It’s enough to put some people off, especially if it’s a long flight. You could avoid that hassle altogether if you give up on visiting other countries and stay here at home. But I’m guessing you don’t want to do that, so what are the alternatives.

The good news is, there are plenty of alternatives to flying, which are way more comfortable, even if they do take a bit longer. If you hate flying, why not consider some of these more comfortable ways to travel?

Buses And Trains

When you are travelling long distance, buses and trains are usually the most comfortable option. Instead of being stuck in a cramped plane seat, you have the freedom to get up and walk around. You’ll have plenty of amenities like air conditioning and wifi too, so it’s easier to keep yourself entertained. You can even hire your own bus from companies like US Coachways if there are quite a few of you. This will keep costs down and you can travel at your own leisure, without having to worry about schedules. Buses and trains are a great way to explore a new country because you get to see what’s happening between the big cities. But if you fly, you just go from airport to airport and miss out on everything in between.

Boats

There’s something special about travelling by boat and if you have enough time, it’s a far more comfortable option than flying. Ferry companies are also more flexible about travelling when pregnant, so if you are unable to fly but still want to take a trip, think about travelling by boat. If you are travelling long distances, taking a cruise is such a great option. Instead of sitting on a long haul flight, you get a peaceful journey on the ocean and the travel becomes part of the experience. You can also stop off at more places on the way, so you get more out of your trip. You’ll also get your own cabin and the freedom to walk around enjoying all of the onboard entertainment and facilities. Wouldn’t you rather be sitting next to a pool with a cocktail instead of on a cramped flight for hours?

Cars

Cars can be a good option but it really depends on where you are going and how comfortable you are with driving. If you’re heading over to Europe and you don’t mind a long drive, a car is a great way to avoid the hassle of the airports and have a bit more of a comfortable trip. The other big benefit is that you don’t need to worry about timetables and you can take the journey as slowly or as quickly as you like. However, remember that a long drive in the height of summer can get uncomfortable.

In the end, it all comes down to personal preference but if you hate flying, these are the most comfortable ways to travel.
