The way that you look at your body and the way that you feel about yourself will influence how you act around other people. If you are always confident about yourself and if you are a positive person, then you may find that you enjoy spending time with others. If you feel self-conscious or awkward, then this will not allow you to live your life to the fullest and you may feel as though you are being held back. Confidence isn’t about walking into a room and feeling as though you are better than everyone there, it is simply about walking into the room and feeling as though you do not have to compare.
Stop Labelling Yourself
When you happen to label yourself as being awkward, shy or timid, you are telling your mind to act this way. You may then feel inclined to live up to expectations such as this. If possible, you have to stop labelling yourself and you also need to stop entertaining any kind of negative self-talk. Close your eyes for a moment and then try and visualise yourself in the situation as you would like to be. If you can, you have to try and be your own cheerleader and you also need to try and speak some positive affirmations to yourself. Seeing is believing at the end of the day, and if you can radiate confidence, then this will help you to manifest the behaviour inside, helping it to become natural over time. If you feel as though you will never become confident because you hate your body, then remember, it’s your body and only you have the power to change it. It may even be that you look into getting a rhinoplasty or cosmetic surgery done if you feel as though this is the only way that you are going to improve the way that you feel.
The World isn’t Looking at You
You have to remember that you are not centre stage. You do not need to be preoccupied with what you are doing, and you also don’t have to be fixated on perfectionism all the time. Just focus on yourself and stop trying to be perfect. If you try and be a people-pleaser all the time, then this will create a lot of anxiety and it will also force you to pay attention to every move you make. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to try and make sure that you follow this mindset and that you try and focus on what matters.
However, this doesn’t mean that you cannot put some effort into yourself. You should be taking care of yourself to the best of your ability, both physically and mentally to achieve the best results. This includes eating well, exercising, and even treating yourself to little things that you enjoy. Whether this is something like a new purse, gold bracelets or whatever else you love, it’s worth purchasing to make yourself feel good.
Focus on Others
If you are nervous, low in confidence, shy or self-conscious in social situations, then do not focus on this. Put the attention on the people who you are talking to. If you can approach the person who appears to be the centre of the party, then prompt them to talk about themselves and act genuinely interested. You can then appear more confident yourself because you are talking to the most confident person in the room.
