I am sure that you wouldn’t allow your toddler to cross the road by themselves or to play with knives. Good parents do everything they can to keep their youngsters safe both in the home and in the big wide world beyond their front doors. But some hazards are a little less obvious than an oncoming juggernaut or a sharp blade.
Everybody knows that smoking will kill you, but whether are a smoker or not, it is easy to overlook the threat posed by secondhand smoke.
If there is one subject which is guaranteed to make my blood boil it is smoking! I don’t know whether to be more furious with smokers or the tobacco companies who have reeled in their victims and then left them with this terrible addiction. Secondhand smoke causes a raft of health issues and if you think that your youngsters are safe, think again because they may not be.
Tobacco smoke can even affect babies in the womb so it is vital that you create a smoke free environment at home and remain vigilante when you are out and about. Here’s a fabulous infographic from Vapester that I just had to share with you. When I read this, I was shocked to discover just how much I didn’t know about protecting children from secondhand smoke.
It’s an interesting read, and one that hits home even more now I’m a new mum.
