One of the biggest trends on the internet right now (especially TikTok), is watching people clean. It’s so satisfying to see others clean and make a room look so spotless. It’s weird, but there’s just something so entertaining about seeing someone else transform a spot or a whole room into a squeaky clean place. This trend has also sparked a wave of people thinking “Oh, I didn’t know I was supposed to clean that”.
It’s true too, there are just some spots in the home that you and many others didn’t know had to be cleaned. It’s totally okay, but it does help point you in the right direction of what may or what may not need a good scrubbing. So what are some of these well-hidden spots? Light switches
Unless your home is filled with Philips smart lights, then chances are you’re using the light switches at home. Light switches are one of the spots in your home that are touched the most often, on a daily basis at least one to two (if not more) light switches are being turned off and on. Fortunately, cleaning the light switches but doesn’t take more than a minute. All you need is a good spray of an anti-bacterial disinfected and a wipe down. Then you’re good to go!
Your pipes
Your pipes do need cleaning every once in a while. Those pesky fruit flies tend to come from your drains, through the pipes. So if you clean out your drains and pipes, it does lessen the chance of getting those gnats. There are plenty of pipe cleaning solutions in stores, but if you notice you’re having some difficulties with the pipes then it may be best to look into some pipe lining specialists as there could be something wrong with your pipes.
Door handles
Just like the light switches are constantly touched throughout the day, the very same can be said about your door handles too. Those also have a lot of bacteria on them. Just like your light switches, you can use a simple solution to spray them and wipe them off. It’s best to do this with all the doorknobs in your house, including the ones outside too.
Window sill
Your windows are most likely getting attention, but why not the window seal? A lot of dust gets trapped in the nooks of a window seal. Having this regularly cleaned can greatly help with keeping it looking fresh. It’s also important to regularly check up on the sill and to make sure that the paint hasn’t cracked at all. The moisture from the windows tends to have that effect.
Areas under the rug
If you have any rugs or carpet around the house, then try to look underneath. It may not be ideal to remove the carpet, but it is easy for dust and other debris to get under rugs. So whenever you’re vacuuming and mopping, just don’t forget to pick up the rug and clean underneath it.
