Let’s face it, most of us would like an Instagram worthy house. Well, I would anyway! But what do I actually mean by ‘Instagram worthy’. Well, to me, it means a house where I can pretty much take a picture anywhere and it looks clean, crisp, fresh and minimal. My house is not like that AT ALL, I’m trying though. We’ve made lots of improvements in the bedroom. Things like white curtains, new furniture and little things like rugs and plants. But there are definitely some key things I’d like to do to turn it into my dream house. IF you want your home to look Instagram worthy, these are the big 4 things that you need to consider…

Flooring
Flooring is a big one but you do have two options. Either a super thick rug, preferably grey or white or a pale wood flooring. Don’t get me wrong, a super lush carpet would be lovely, but I don’t think I’d even be able to look at it without making it dirty! So to be somewhat slightly more practical I’d go for pale wood flooring. It brightens the room, is a neutral backdrop for any picture and makes everything look clean and bigger. Even a light grey would work well and hides the dirt a little bit more. Don’t forget that the skirting board and architrave has to look just as good too! Always keep them clean, you’ll be surprised as how much dust those edges can pick up. Of course, the perks with wood flooring is that it lasts longer and looks better for longer!
Walls
If you’re going for the minimalist white and grey look like I’d love, then you need white walls everywhere/ Plain and simple. White walls are the way to go. Let’s not talk about the upkeep… we all know it’s impossible to keep clean, but there you have it! There is a new Instagram trend though of having dark walls in places like the lounge or bathroom. So if that’s your thing, go for it. Think lush dark green and deep navy blue with gold accessories and you’re almost there.

Plants
One of the easiest and most affordable ways to make your house Instagram worthy is to get yourself a roomful of plants. I don’t mean one or two, I mean dozens! No, I’m not joking. Bringing some green into your living space seems to be the big thing to do right now. To be honest, having plants is actually supposed to be good for you so maybe there’s more to it than just creating the perfect Insta grid post after all.
Light it up
So if you can’t change the flooring, can’t paint the walls and basically hate plants, there’s one thing you CAN do. Get more lighting. Whether that’s getting lighter curtains or decorating your house with ring lights, whenever you take a picture just light the space up and you’ll already be on your way to an Instagramable house. Give it a try and see the difference it makes to your pictures!
