As someone that can call blogging my full-time job for nearly three years, it’s definitely been a temptation to look into getting a proper office – not just my front room. Just browsing through a site like Click Offices shows me how easily I could actually make it a reality again. Don’t get me wrong, I love the freedom of working from home, but there’s something satisfying about the idea of actually going to work again.

I’m specifically looking for shared office space. I hire a VA, but I doubt I would need space for more than just myself. As a result, I have a lot of flexibility in the kind of hot-desking spaces I could hunt for, which would really suit the way that I work.

Here are 5 reasons it may benefit me to blog in a shared office:

  1. Meeting Other Creatives

Something exciting about shared office space is the fact that I would be able to meet with people in similar fields as me. I could link up with other professionals, like writers, photographers and things like that, who may be able to assist me in making more engaging content.

  1. Sharing Ideas

Besides my husband and the toddlers in my house, I have nobody else to bounce ideas off – and sometimes it can really hold me back. I mean they’re all boys, and I miss being able to speak to women – especially creative women – who understand the vision I have, and may have a better understanding of how I can achieve it.

  1. Having a Routine

If I was to rent an office space, it would mean that I actually have to have some sort of day-to-day idea of what I’m doing. Usually, unless I’m taking my eldest to nursery, I don’t really have much reason to make plans for what I’m doing – meaning that I start work late and I end work late. Obviously that’s an unproductive way of working.

  1. Getting Out More

Although I do go out quite a lot for events and whatnot, the actual writing side of blogging is all usually done from home. Getting out means being able to change things up a bit and make it more fun again, because there have definitely been times when it’s felt monotonous.

  1. Separating Home Life from Work Life

Working from home means that, at any point, I can be interrupted by my husband, kids, visitors or the postman. I have to do all the cooking, cleaning, and everything else. Going away to work means that I can escape that for just a little while, so I can actually focus.

So Will I Actually Do It?

I feel like a lot of change is coming for me and with 2020 being a whole new decade, it might be the right time to make a massive change that could make me more productive as a blogger. There’s so much benefit that outweighs the cost and the relative inconvenience that comes with it, so it’s definitely something I’m going to be looking into for the lead-up to the new year.
