With summer well and truly here it’s a time when we all start to worry about our new wardrobes and how we look now we’re not covered in a million layers. Emergency prep begins, everything from pedicures to wardrobe overhauls. It’s a scary time, suddenly have to think about those outfits that you haven’t worn in over a year and quite frankly, just don’t fit right anymore!
So let’s stop the panic. Breathe. Grab a moment. Here are 5 top tips to get your wardrobe summer ready with minimal effort.
Did you know that your bust size fluctuates ALOT? You might not be the same bra size you were last year and that’s OK. My advice is to check your size and then change it up. Try a different shape or fit. You’ll be amazed at what a new bra can do for your shape and outfit. Supportive bras like this make a world of difference. Plus, when you’re comfortable, you’ll be more confident.
If there’s an item of clothing that you’re waiting to wear once you’ve lost weight / got a haircut / grown a tail then get rid of it. It will only make you feel rubbish about yourself and your outfit choice. If you can’t wear it now or haven’t worn it in over a year, it’s time to contemplate getting rid.
So you have an amazing skirt and a gorgeous shirt that you’ve worn separately for the last couple of years. But now they’re just not cutting it. Try them together! Mix it up. Be brave. Twin items together based on how they make you feel rather than how you think other people will perceive them. Before you know it, you’ll have a dozen new outfits created from the clothes you already had! Think about turning jeans up, wearing shirts open over logo tees and mixing colours or prints that you wouldn’t usually go for. You’ll be amazing at what you can whip up.
Sort out your bits and pieces from the last couple of years and work out what are your summer essentials. Every summer without fail you’ll need some gladiator sandals, a sun hat, sunglasses and a festival style bag. (Think fringe, tassels etc.). Once you’ve got those sorted the rest you can play around with or get rid of. Keeping summer accessories simple is the aim here, especially if you struggle with seasonal transitions. As soon as you pop on that festival bag and sonnies, you’ll instantly feel summer wardrobe ready.
OK, here’s the cliché. But it really is true. Confidence is key. When summer comes, remember how fabulous you are, how unique you are and that actually no one else’s opinion matters. Work THAT outfit regardless of trends or appropriateness. Feel great in whatever you choose to wear and own it. That confidence can do more for your summer wardrobe than any item of clothing. So start practicing now!
