You might have your room looking just as you had dreamed of. The perfect walls, lighting, and even the ceiling is spot on. But now you’re thinking what the heck do you do with the floor? Sometimes it feels like you have two options and two options only. Your classic wood flooring or a carpet. Of course there’s thousands of options to choose from, but they’re all pretty much the same right? Well here’s three things to make your life a little bit easier if you’re looking to add some much needed sass to your basic home flooring.

Parquet Flooring
If you’re looking for wood flooring but want something a little different, parquet flooring is for you. You still get all the benefits of having a long-lasting, easy to clean and amazing looking floor but the way it’s made means that you can get an entirely different look. Parquet flooring is more vibrant and eye-catching because of the way it’s put together. Instead of just using basic planks of wood, parquet uses smaller pieces of wood which can create attractive and decorative shapes. From geometric designs to regular shapes you can have patterns such as herringbone, chevron and even chequerboard or basket weave. The choice is yours. Just like other hardwood floors, parquet flooring is low maintenance, even though it looks great. People often don’t realise that wood flooring can actually be decorative, so this is a great thing to consider.
Rug it out
If you’ve got a floor which you can’t change (renters I’m talking to you here!) a good rug can change the entire mood of a room. But instead of going for one large rug, how about mixing it up with a few smaller rugs. This was you can inject lot’s of colour, texture and mood into one room, no matter its size! You can pop a rug under a tv stand, under a coffee table and a sofa, as well as having one in the middle of the room. Have a colour palette and work it around your rugs. It’s amazing the magic you can create.
Paint it
This might seem like a lot of effort but you can actually paint wooden flooring if you really can’t do anything else. It can be lot’s of work and you have to make sure you do it right so you don’t ruin the wood, but if you manage it, it can be amazing. You could opt for a wood shade such as brown, beige or white. Or you could go all out and paint It blue, purple or even pink. The choice is yours. If you’re not ready to take on that kind of responsibility just yet, don’t worry. Just giving your wooden floor a lick of varnish could help spruce it up a bit too with a lot less effort needed.
