When push comes to shove, we probably all have some sort of idea of what our “dream home” would look like if we could just click our fingers and have it.

Of course, life being what it is, we can’t all move into beautiful palatial residences in the countryside, or buy penthouse suites in the heart of the city, just like that.

All the same, though, you might be surprised by just what you could end up with if you took the effort to go after your dream home or to arrange a chat with a team of expert residential architects.

Here are just a few reasons why you should go after your dream home.

  • Because any environment you spend so much of your time is going to have a major impact on your mood and perspective

If you’re anything like most people, you probably spend a very large proportion of your time at home – and that means your home is going to have a major impact on how you experience life.

Any environment where we spend a lot of our time inevitably ends up influencing and colouring our perceptions and perspective on things. If you doubt this, just consider how you would feel, on an everyday basis, if you lived in a dank basement, compared to if you lived in an appealing and airy apartment.

One clear reason to go after your dream home is that it can simply make you feel more upbeat and positive to live in a place that you like and appreciate.

  • Because things generally move in a positive direction when we go after our goals

Life isn’t really the kind of thing that you can just leave to take care of itself. “Going with the flow” is just another way of saying “following the path of least resistance,” and that path doesn’t often lead in very positive and uplifting directions.

When you proactively go after your goals, whatever they may be, you’re actively taking a hand in shaping your destiny and positively influencing your circumstances.

In other words, things generally move in a positive direction when you go after your goals.

  • Because it’s fun and uplifting to have a worthwhile project to work on

No one wants to feel chronically bored, but there are much better ways to stave off boredom than the usual time-killing techniques.

When you have a worthwhile project to work on, such as taking steps to bring your current home in line with your dream home template, you are unlikely to be bored, and you will probably have a good deal of fun along the way (even in light of the inevitable frustration and work that goes along with the process.)

It has been suggested that most of the motivation and fulfilment we all get on a daily basis, is driven by the sensation that we are moving towards goals that we value, and are heading in directions that we approve of. Or, in other words, “the journey is half the fun.”In order to feel these benefits, you don’t need to go in for a major overhaul job on the spot. Incremental changes over time will work just fine.
