Almost a year into the start of this whole situation in the UK (can you believe it?) and during this time, we’ve learnt a few things… people go crazy for toilet paper and hand sanitiser is our best friend. It’s so strange how much more thought we give to germs and hand hygiene than we used to before. Don’t get me wrong, I’m pretty sure we all thought about it and washed our hands but never this much.

Hand sanitiser has become a part of our daily lives. Taking hand sanitiser with me when I go to the supermarket or for a walk has become second nature. But what are the benefits of hand sanitiser? Today, I’ve partnered up with Ocean Free, leading UK hand sanitiser manufacturer, to share all we need to know about hand sanitiser.

Reduces the chances of getting ill.

By killing 99.999% of bacteria, germs and viruses, you will be reducing the chances of getting ill plus, stopping the spread of these microorganisms to the ones around you. It is important to choose an alcohol-based hand sanitiser with more than 60% of alcohol as, according to this article on the CDC, “sanitizers with an alcohol concentration between 60–95% are more effective at killing germs than those with a lower alcohol concentration or non-alcohol-based hand sanitizers.”

Lightweight and portable.

Travel-size hand sanitiser is highly convenient. If you are going outside, be sure pack your hand sanitiser in your bag, purse or pocket for a quick and easy way of sanitising your hands. As Renovation Bay Bee says, “hand sanitiser should be used after touching public surfaces and germ hot-spots, such as lift buttons, door handles, light switches, bannister rails, and more.”

Endless choice.

Liquid hand sanitiser, hand sanitising gel, moisturising hand sanitiser, fragrance-free hand sanitiser, scented hand sanitiser… the list goes on. There are so many hand sanitisers to choose from that you will be able to find the perfect fit for your hands.

As this blog post in Chilling with Lucas mentions, “if your children are not keen on using standard hand sanitiser, perhaps going for a scented option might do the trick.” Ocean Free has a variety of scented hand sanitisers, including fantasy hand sanitiser gel and lemon zest hand sanitiser that will leave your hands sanitised and fragrant. However, it’s important to note that if you or your child has sensitive skin, fragrance-free hand sanitiser would be better suited for your hands.
