Something most of us have learned over the last 12 months is that staying in touch with loved ones is so important. With socialising being restricted throughout most of the past year, this has had to be different to previous times but most of us have got inventive. Last year saw more people than ever host Zoom quiz nights with friends and use Whatsapp to chat to each other. This technology has been so important to many of us, and is likely something that will continue.

This lack of being able to socialise has made meeting new people difficult. This goes for dating, people who have moved areas, new mums and people who just want to make new friends –all of it has been tough, because our usual avenues of meeting people have been so restricted.
If you are looking to meet new people then the internet can work – you just need to know where to look. Blogging is a great way to meet people – and there are also Facebook groups and community pages so it is worth exploring these options and getting to know people that way. You can even join websites for things such as dating for gamers, depending on the type of relationship you’re looking to form.
Interacting Online
The good news is that even if you’re relying on getting to know someone via a computer screen, there are options open to you. Virtual dates are a great way to abide by the current rules & spend time with someone you’re wanting to know more about.
Movie Nights – Why not agree that you’ll both watch the same movie at the same time? Get some comfys on, grab some snacks and both of you log into your Netflix account at the same time. You might not be able to line up the movies perfectly, but you’ll be able to message each other as you watch and share the experience that way. You could even opt to be on a video call while you watch the film if you like.
Game Together – If you have met through a website such as Gamers-dates.com the chances are you’re both into gaming – so use this to your advantage. You could even recommend new games to each other and play along that way. Lots of games allow multi-player so you can either battle each other, or complete a mission together – the choice is yours!

Date Nights
Even if you live together with someone, why not arrange a date night? Maybe you could get together with friends and do an online quiz or something similar. Even without the virtual socialising element of things, date nights are a great way to keep an existing relationship interesting – especially during these times when we can’t just go out for dinner or to the cinema.
Whether you’re dating virtually, or you’re looking to arrange something with someone you live with – take it in turns to arrange what you’re doing, think about what the other person might like and most of all – have fun!
