It’s funny how what used to be old it now vintage and what used to be vintage is now antique! Things change, times change, and tastes change. One thing that never changes is the fact that people love a good collection. Whether it’s books, keyrings, jewellery or furniture. There’s something about collections of any kind that get people buzzing. But what kind of things should we be collecting now that could potentially be worth something in the future? It’s hard to know where to start so here’s 3 top ideas to start off your collections and to give you some food for thought.

Gun Paraphernalia

From old fashioned pistols to modern WTPH holsters, there’s an entire range of gun paraphernalia that will be brilliant for people to look back on in years to come. Guns and the gun industry is massive, it’s always been in the collector’s world, but now more than ever, guns and accessories are holding their value for longer. There’s no guarantee that you’ll make a profit but that’s all part of the fun! When thinking about the collection, you should aim for high quality and exceptionally crafted products, like holsters.

Many gun collectors choose to collect a particular type or make or model of the gun as usually collecting starts with an interest in something specific. To be honest, that’s probably good advice. The better you get to know a certain make or model or brand, the more you’ll spot a great investment. Of course, you have to make sure you stick to all laws and regulations where you live, there’s no point collecting if it could get seized! Have fun with it, and consider it a hobby you can really learn about.

Comic Books

Comic books have always been collectable and they’re not stopping now! The more vintage or rare the comic book the better. So if you hang on to the comic books from today, who knows how much they’ll be worth in thirty or forty years. That’s the key, remembering collecting is about the long haul, no matter the item. Keep them as unread and unused as possible. Pop them away somewhere safe and remember where they are! Comics always end up getting lost. The worlds most expensive comic book sold for $3.2 million could yours be next?

Music Memorabilia

We all know that people like The Beatles or Elvis were world-famous and now music memorabilia is worth a lot of money. Imagine what the memorabilia of stars today will be worth in 20- or 30-year’s time? From Little Mix to Beyonce, that signed t-shirt or poster you have from last year might just make your day in a decade or two! Alongside the main item, make sure you keep hold of any additional pictures, selfies or documents you have. It could be a concert ticket, the picture on your mobile (print it off!) or even an email confirmation of your purchase. Keep it all!

Whatever you plan on collecting, the key thing is that you look after it, store it well and keep as much of the original paperwork and packaging as possible. You’ll be amazed at how a single bit of paper can increase or decrease the value of an item in years to come and you don’t want to be kicking yourself that you threw it in the bin! Enjoy what you’re collecting too. If it doesn’t bring you enjoyment, then what’s the point? You’ll end up finding more
