Cameo has really got into imaginary play over the last few months and we’ve set up many shop moments on the table and the floor. When a new Casdon Supermarket Till arrived for him, it was like a match made in heaven! He was now an official little shop keeper, with toy food and money included. It’s a great toy because it’s bright, interactive and has so many aspects of learning while he plays. So it’s a winner from the kid’s side and the parent’s side. From the development of early counting skills to social skills. There are lots of elements where this fun toy helps your little ones to learn too.
One thing I love about this supermarket till is that it’s pretty much all good to go as soon as you take it out of the box. There’s a couple of boxes to make, such as the toy Birds Eye Curry and a couple of stickers to add on, but other than that, it’s ready to just start being played with. It comes with a bundle of branded play food items which other than the cardboard boxes are really robust and can take lots of play which is great. The toy money is also a great way of helping with counting and numbers. Cameo doesn’t understand prices yet so will always overcharge for milk – haha!
The till has touch-sensitive buttons which beep when pressed, they’re pretty sensitive too so small fingers have no problem when trying to do this themselves. The till also works as a real-life calculator which is great for slightly older kids. There’s also a working microphone, where Cameo can shout and tell us there’s spilt milk or tell us when to enter the shop. It isn’t loud but does work which is great. There’s also a scanner which Cameo can make beep as he pretends to scan our shopping and I think the best part for him is opening the cash register and acting like he really does own a shop.
The till has everything a real supermarket has, including a chip and pin machine and while Cameo uses it as a full-on toy where he owns a shop, Marlo is just happy to sit there and press all the buttons. My only word of warning is that the brilliant sounds (beeps, pings and rings) are pretty loud and we don’t seem to be able to adjust the volume but my little ones love that.
It’s a fab toy that gets a lot of playtime in our house so is great value for money. It’s available from Amazon and other good toy shops.
