When Cameo was born lot’s of people gave him books as lifelong gifts. At the time, they just laid there gathering dust. He (obviously) would have rather eat them then read them and I didn’t have the energy for bedtime stories when it took 3 hours to get him to sleep! BUT, now he is 2 (and a bit) we love reading books. He’ll pick his favourites and demand to whoever is around that they read to him. But what’s so brilliant now is that he has read his beloved books so much that he knows the words off by heart. His favourite one is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. (I’ve blogged about his love of The Very Hungry Caterpillar before over here – but now, he knows the words to the book and is a Caterpillar/butterfly fan!)

Celebrating 50 Year's of The Very Hungry Caterpillar

He was given two of the same books when he was a baby and since then, The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been his favourite. I’m sure it’s something to do with all the food! Cameo knows all the words now and it’s just so lovely that he has a character from a book that he loves. This year The Very Hungry Caterpillar celebrates its 50th anniversary. Imagine – a story 50 years old and still truly loved by my little one today.

To celebrate, there’s a new range of The Very Hungry Caterpillar goodies that are available all over the place. There’s literally something for everyone. We were very, very kindly sent a host of The Very Hungry Caterpillar goodies to celebrate the occasion and Cameo was over the moon! We couldn’t believe the array of goodies. For little ones and bigger ones – outdoor play, indoor play. The list is endless. Plus so much of it is great to hand down. So whatever Cameo has now, the timeless story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar will be around forever. So Marlo will reap all the joy too! (as long as Cameo doesn’t destroy everything!) There is, however, plenty for Marlo to get involved with too! From a super cute baby comforter that works as a fab teether, to a gorgeous inflatable nest for him to chill out in. Although, at the moment, he is so into whatever Cameo has, that the floor puzzle is the household winner right now!

I let Cameo choose his favourites from the bundle just out of curiosity to see what he would go for. He went for The Very Hungry Caterpillar book (although he already has 2!), the really lovely baking set so he can bake cakes with his nanny and the caterpillar dressing up set which has had me laughing out loud all morning. The dressing up set just screams cute. But it’s so lovely to watch his imagination come out to play. Although he originally said Marlo could have the bug goggles he swiftly changed his mind once we had them out of the packaging. He actually thinks he is a bug walking around the house. Brilliant!

Everything related to The Very Hungry Caterpillar that we’ve come across has been so well made. Not just in terms of quality but in child-friendly, bright, colourful and long-lasting. It’s a little bit of sunshine every time The Very Hungry Caterpillar comes into our house. Just like the story itself.
