Review: Heroes of Goo Jit Zu DC

When we lived in south London a few years back, our apartment was literally on the doorstep of a massive supermarket. It was so convenient for us. At any time of the day, we could just nip next door to grab whatever we needed and be snug in our place within moments. We used to go at random times to try and get bargains and would enjoy (pre-kids) having time to just stroll around with no pressure or rush to get back.

This all leads me to a funny story. I will never forget the day that my now-husband tried to brag about one of his favourite childhood toys to me. We were in the toys aisle for some reason and my husband was going on about how great this kids stretchy toy was. He was telling me about how much he loved him when he was in single-figures and that it would be a great gift.

We were then browsing through further down the aisle when two young kids – probably age about 10 and 11 – came along, looked at this rubbery toys and said “Err, that’s rubbish”. They did it LITERALLY STRAIGHT AFTER and it shut Chiino up immediately. He didn’t know what to say. Real kids gave their verdict and it was a ‘no’ from them. Looking back at it, I think they were just trying to give him a bit of cheek!

Fast-forward and we have kids of our own and my husband hasn’t lived this humiliating incident down. He’s been trying to prove a point that it was an isolated incident and those boys were in fact wrong. I actually think he might be right for a change. Our boys (now 4 and 2.5) have had a few of different stretchy figures over the past year, and I can’t deny that they actually love playing with them. They’re fab toys and really would make great gifts.

The latest additions are a pair of DC Heroes of Goo Jit Zu toys, one of Batman (who Cameo claimed as his own, before I even get chance to introduce him) and another of Flash (who Marlo welcomed as his own immediately). There’s also a Superman version, for any collectors that really want the full set.

As you can expect, the moment they got the toys, Cameo and Marlo each believed they had the strongest one, so they took it in turns to prove why each of them were so powerful. The verbal wars soon turned into friendly physical ones, with Chiino acting as they referee. From the moment they got them, they started stretching them out to ridiculous lengths. The boys especially like how the Goo Jit Zu toys can turn their limbs into balloons by squeezing them.

As well as these individual DC Goo Jit Zu toys, which are available for £12.99 they also have a Batman vs Joker versus pack which really invites you to turn the rivalry into action at home. The DC versus pack is £24.99.

So who would you bet the washing up on? Batman or Flash?
