Is it too early to mention the C-Word? No way! I’ve definitely seen Christmas chocolates in the supermarket and I’ve heard rumours that some people are putting up their decorations already – so I guess it’s time to get organised. Christmas is a great time of year, but finding presents for everyone can be a nightmare. My children are definitely well-catered for in terms of presents, but knowing what unique gifts to buy brothers or fussy boys that are of different ages can be tough. I get asked all the time about what the boys would like for Christmas and, to be honest, you’ll probably get a different answer every week because they change their minds so often! But ultimately, there’s a couple of tips to follow to make your gift buying for that fussy boy as easy as possible.
Buying For Children
Children tend to go through phases of what they like – Paw Patrol for example. Although this can help with present inspiration it can be tough – because as quickly as they fall in love with Paw Patrol they fall out of love with it. No good for those of us that want to be organised and start buying presents in October. What I have found with both of the boys is that a handful of presents where they can do things together is a great idea. They are slightly different ages but with just a little bit of research it is easy to find activities that they can do together – educational ones are a big hit! In general, children prefer the box that presents come in over the actual contents! THat’s the tip here! Think small, think fun and think fun over anything. Bright colours, textures, packaging. It could be the size of an egg but if it’s bright green and glows in the dark, it’ll be a winner! See what I mean?
Buy For The Older Brother
If you’re buying for brothers this year, as a mum of two boys who are 18 months apart, my advice is to always aim to please the older one! Ultimately, whatever they have the younger brother will always want. Plus, once the older brother has fallen out of love with it, it will go to the younger brother anyway It’s just what happens. So save yourself time and money in the long run. It really does make sense. You’ll also find that the fussiest child will always suddenly fall in love with a gift as soon as a sibling shows interest. You’ll soon get cries of ‘No! It’s mine!’.

Buying on a Budget
Sometimes we can be put off of buying a present because we don’t feel that we have the money to spend out on anything extravagant. However, for me, presents are all about what thought you have put into buying for a loved one rather than how much you have spent. Starting your Christmas shopping early gives you the perfect opportunity to shop around, look out for sales, make use of voucher codes and buy something for that fussy little one that they’ll love without spending too much money.

Whether you’re buying for Christmas, a birthday or another occasion just remember that your loved ones don’t want you going broke just to buy them a present – so shop savvy rather than a luxury if you need to and I can promise you, they’ll love it just as much!
