I’ll admit it: I’m not a cat person. I had one when I was younger and it was a nightmare. I don’t think I’ve ever got over it, because I won’t let the kids around them, no matter how sweet some of them look. It seems as though I’m in the minority though because according to the internet, cats are everyone’s favourite animal. They’re everywhere online and apparently, I would have missed the trend where people started placing cucumbers/pickles near cats and watching them cower away from them (for some strange reason!)
Cats vs Pickles plays on this concept and introduces us to a whole world of characters engaged in wild warfare. My two (age 2.5 and 4) love to get themselves into drama, so this is right up their street.
I have to admit that these little plushies are cute. What I love most about them is that they come with little tags that tell you their name and a free app game to play – creating an even more interactive experience.
Once we got them open, the boys loved trying to work out what each one was – identifying a mermaid-styled one and a bee-like one – while my husband and I told them their names. Once we had IDs for everyone, the front room turned into a Cats vs Pickles battlefield, as the boys and my husband realised they’re like beanbags and throw extremely well. (Marlo just needs to work on his aim!)
They’ve actually become Chiino’s favourite thing, as he’s made up all kinds of throwing games involving these new additions to the home. We’ve recently just done up the front room, so as long as they watch the new mirror and lamp, they can have all sorts of fun flinging these cats about the place.
