I’m a silver lining kind of person and one of the positive things that came from lockdown was that we got to explore more of where we live. We’ve lived here for two years but have only just touched the service of what’s around us. Amazingly, we went on a footpath adventure during the lockdown and came across a huge forest area open to the public, not even a 10-minute walk from us! I know! Don’t ask me how we missed it, but we did and now it’s become our own little adventure playground and getting rid of our boredom! The boys love exploring and are more than happy to run for miles. It’s lovely to see them in the open space, climbing trees and foraging for acorns. But as a parent, it’s important to be prepared for anything, even more so now we have new viruses to contend with.
Thanks to Safe and Sound Health, we don’t have to be scared of trips, scrapes or grazes anymore. I’ve definitely been one of those mums that want to wrap my little ones in cotton wool to protect them, but where’s the fun in that? So now I’m prepared for any adventure. Safe and Sound have just launched a range of new fun kids plasters which are designed especially for children. They’re hypoallergenic, gentles on kids’ skin and there’s a range of cute designs to choose. The plasters come in two varieties – dinosaurs, monsters, robots and spaceships, or unicorns, dinosaurs, mermaids and princesses. So, there’s something for every little adventurer. Each pack comes with a generous 16 plasters too!
I don’t know about your little ones, but Cameo is obsessed with plasters. I don’t know if it reminds him of stickers or if they genuinely make him feel better when he has hurt himself, but he just loves them and to say these Safe and Sound stickers were a winner is an understatement. The boys always get grazes when we go on a walk, it’s part and parcel of the day when they’re aged two and three. Cameo has no issue putting a plaster on, but it’s the keeping it on that’s the problem. He just wants to pull them straight off! When we went to the forest recently and grazed his knee on a stick, he was overjoyed at the options of plasters he had to choose from. The big thing for me, as a parent, was the edging was clear. Although the design is super bright and fun, the actual plaster is transparent and Cameo didn’t feel the need to pull it straight off, because he was so focused on the image. The plaster isn’t waterproof but it is wash proof, so can withstand a quick knee clean up after they’ve been rolling down hills or playing in the sand. Pretty amazing really.
Both my boys have sensitive skin and the plasters haven’t left any irritation on their skin, they’re also really sturdy and don’t start to bubble or slip after more running around. The plasters are really flexible and perfect for small cuts and grazes. I’d really recommend grabbing the Antiseptic wound spray too. It’s small and bag friendly and means you can make sure any little ouch is quickly looked after. I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t sting, I mean if your little one has a cut, even pure water would sting, but this is very gentle and doesn’t seem to make them cry even more, so that’s important too. It’s perfect for popping on before a plaster too (just let it dry while your little one is choosing their favourite plaster design).
Another thing that Safe and Sound Health have that’s a great family product (especially now) is the Foaming hand sanitiser. Again, it’s really bag friendly so doesn’t take up much space and there’s something about the foam that the boys are much more willing to use than a hand gel. You only need a tiny bit and of course, using it before treating any cut or graze is a good idea. It kills 99.99% of bacteria and doesn’t leave your hands feeling sticky and it doesn’t smell like bad tequila! Winning!
It’s really nice to have a brand that has thought about these delicate moments with your children. There’s nothing worse than having a crying toddler that won’t let you make the graze that’s hurting them better! So with the super fun and very efficient Safe and Sound plasters, it almost gives that instant distraction and calms them down a bit while you get on with being the parent paramedic that we’re all trying our best to be. But at least we know, with this little first aid kit of goodies with us, we’re ready to adventure fearlessly and have as much fun as our little legs can take.
