I’m not ashamed to admit that on of my youngest first words was Duggee. Why? Because Cameo (his older brother) loves Hey Duggee. He is literally a part of the squirrel gang and is also obsessed with badges! So when we got the chance to review the Hey Duggee Smart Table, I knew it would go down well in my house.
The tablet itself is a toy, so no worries about it being an actual ‘tablet’ that connects to the internet etc. It’s a really bright and inviting toy and as soon as the boys saw it, it was like a beacon of light in the room! They saw it straight away! The table is covered in Hey Duggee characters and has the favourite Hey Duggee characters voices, so Cameo, my eldest, recognises them straight away.
One of the major perks of the Hey Duggee Tablet is that there’s no fuss to setting it up. You literally open it, pop in some batteries and away you go. There’s no programming or installing required. It’s also super easy to turn on. There’s a large button which both my 3 year old and 20 month old can press easily and then they’re greeted with a very cheery; HELLO SQUIRRELS. WHAT SHALL WE LEARN TO DAY and then Hey Duggee lights up and flashes. To be honest, the entire touch screen is really delicate and they have no issues with pressing anything to make it work.
The tablet is split into small sections. So one focuses on numbers, another on colours and so on. There are little quizzes, so when the boys press a button, Hey Duggee will ask them a little quiz, such as ‘Can you find the first letter of the word cake’. The tablet has lots of pictures and letters on so there’s lots to do! It’s great for teaching little ones basic numbers, letters, colours, spelling, phonics and shapes! Plus, it’s great for Hey Duggee fans because so many of the characters are on there too.
The tablet itself is light weight, easy to hold and really keeps the kids attention. It’s nice to know they can have something fun to play with but it’s also pretty educational too. It’s a winner In our house and so far they’ve actually managed to share it! As Marlo get’s older, it’s becoming slightly easier to share toys – hooray!
