Review: Family Fun with Ricky Zoom

When your little one becomes fans of a tv show, it’s amazing how quickly they get to know the characters. Ricky Zoom is relatively new in our household but has already become a fan. Ricky Zoom is a pre-schoolers dream. It’s a movie-style animated show where all the characters are bikes. Ricky Zoom, the star of the show is a bright red rescue bike and he has a little group of friends who join him on his racing adventures.

They’re all about teamwork, friendship and problem-solving. Plus, the two-wheeled world is a new one, as we haven’t seen a story revolve solely around super cool bikes before. One of the reasons Ricky Zoom is so visually appealing is because it has movie-style animation created by using Pixar software. It takes one day to create 5 seconds!!! Incredible isn’t it?

Ricky Zoom is based in a place called Wheelford and Ricky’s house place a big part in the series. So when we received the Ricky’s House Playset  (Available from The Entertainer) it totally brought the series even more to life! The playset is almost identical to what it looks like on the show. It took us just a few minutes to put the playset together, it requires 2xAAA batteries and within a few minutes, it’s ready to go.

There’s so much to do with this Playset and there are loads of aspects that bring Ricky Zooms home to life. Firstly, it actually includes a Ricky Zoom figure (hooray!) and his cute little sister Toot. The big feature that Cameo loves the most is the life which moves from floor to floor. It has doors at the bottom and when you press the button and it plays lots of different feature sounds from the show. There are ramps, a moving lookout telescope, a fold-out rescue centre that makes the playset look even bigger, a launcher that makes Ricky literally zoom off the playhouse and so much more!

There’s lot’s of creative play to be had, Cameo creates little stories and today the tyre check station part of the playset became Ricky’s bedroom! The rotating platform Is also a favourite for Cameo who like to spin Ricky and Toot on there before driving them down the lift and back up the ramps again. There’s so much to do in Rick’s House Playset that even after having it for a week, Cameo is still enjoying every aspect of it, AND it’s all still in one piece!

If you fancy adding to the playset, you can get the entire family together! The Ricky Zoom Family Pack (Also available from The Entertainer) is a great addition and brings the entire series to your front room. The set includes Ricky Zoom, sister Toot, Mum Helen and Dad Hank. They’re all brightly coloured with moving wheels and all work their way around the playset perfectly. Mum Helen is a little bit snug for the lift, but that’s not an issue when she can zoom up the three ramps! They can all stand up independently which is great for imaginative play and they have articulate wheels so you can steer them in different directions. Little things like this really add to the longevity of each playtime.

Cameo loves it when either myself or his dad gets involved in the Ricky Zoom action. It’s something we can play together and he is quite happy to share it because it’s so big. Although don’t go near the lift because that’s his favourite bit! Ricky Zoom does have a big family element to it and I think it’s fab that they are supporting leading children’s charity Barnardos this Christmas with its Barnardo’s Kidsmas Toddle with Ricky Zoom. You can visit https://www.barnardos.org.uk/bigtoddle  for more details on this Zoomtastic fun event and I think we could all go out of our way to help kids less fortunate than our own this Christmas.

You can watch Ricky Zoom weekdays at 7.40 am on Milkshake and bring some super two-wheeled adventures into your household!
