I’m sure it’s the same for your toddler but Cameo has constant energy. If he isn’t able to run around and let some energy out you can really tell the difference in his behaviour. We try and go out every day, even if the weather is terrible. (Also helps to have a garden, no idea how we would have managed with these two boys in a super tiny London flat!). But he is definitely at the point where he needs something else to do… he needs a bike!!
Not a trike (he is over that slightly and always wants to be pushed). He needs a bike. He is becoming more independent and learning to do things himself. We were sold on the Chicco Red Bullet – My First Balance Bicycle as soon as we saw it.
So, what is a balance bike? Basically, It’s a balance bike which means it doesn’t have pedals. Cameo needs to learn to balance and push himself along with his feet. It means there’s no need for stabilisers and Cameo can just sit and walk along. It’s really light but sturdy so with a little practice he’ll get used to it. It’s easy to assemble… although don’t do what we did and lose a bit! We thought the bike was broken and then randomly found a missing bit in the kitchen. As long as you don’t do that you’ll be totally fine and have the bike up in 10 minutes.
You can adjust the height of the saddle and handlebars to make it just right for your little one. The bike is suitable for 3 – 5 years so in a few months Cameo should be whizzing around on it full of confidence. We just need to get him a helmet and armbands because at the moment he is a little wobbly. You can see him really concentrating and I can’t wait until he can ride away in the country park.
The tyres are solid and don’t need pumping up which means they’ll be super long-wearing and no worries about annoying punctures. It’s a brilliant starter bike for any little one. We can’t wait to see Cameo’s progression on the Chicco Red Bullet balance bike and once he gets too big for it, Marlo will be able to take ownership of it!
