There’s something so sweet when my little one shows concern for someone else. When he says something like ‘oh no mummy, are you feeling ok?’ or ‘don’t be a sad daddy’. It’s very cute. So, when we received the Emotion Pets – Cry Pets Puppy, I couldn’t wait to see Cameo’s reaction.

Cry Pets Puppies are super soft like a teddy. They come with a small water bottle and a tiny towel. You basically fill the bottle up with water, squeeze it into the hole in the puppy’s mouth while holding it like a baby and it’s huge cute eyes literally well up with water. I have to admit, they do look very sad at this point. You then squeeze and rub their little paw to let them know it’s ok and then that’s when the tears come out.

This toy really encouraged Cameo’s imagination and also we saw some lovely parts of his nurturing side which we don’t get to see very often when he is playing. Of course, he really got into looking after ‘his pet’ as he now calls him and ended up carrying him around for the rest of the day. Even if you don’t add water to make the puppy cry, it’s a really cute companion for your little ones to hold on too and play with. Once Cameo has ‘fed’ the puppy with the water bottle, he is mesmerised by the puppies eyes that are full of water. Although he finds the water coming out funny, at first he was really concerned! So, so, so cute.

The tears do come out a lot stronger than I imagined. so be prepared for a bit of wet play and sometimes the eyes get a little clogged with the fur which is where using the towel comes into dry the puppy’s eyes. We found the puppy did get a bit wet but dried quickly and didn’t become matty or damp which is great. It’s quite large too, which I thought was great, it’s approx. 23cm tall so it isn’t just a small teddy you’re getting. It also doesn’t require any batteries which is always a bonus.

Overall, not only is it a super cute toy that is interactive but it encourages really great role play and helps children develop their nurturing side, empathy and compassion.
