I don’t know how it came to be, but around the time Cameo turned 2, Masha & The Bear had become a staple of our bedtime routine. It had replaced Fireman Sam as his favourite before bed show. Eventually, his younger brother would be just as into it as he was, so it made it easy to prep them both for bed each day.

Now 4 and nearly 3, Cameo (4) and Marlo (nearly 3) still love a bit of Masha & The Bear every now and then. It’s a show they’ll always pick if they see it as an option and it’s something that makes more sense to them as they get a little older. They know all the characters and understand the concept of Masha & Bear.

They both love the mischievous young girl and the adventures she gets up to with her bear best friend. They both love the songs. They love the world that they bring to life. But for whatever reason, we hadn’t ever got around to getting any Masha & The Bear toys. That all changed recently when we were treated to a bundle from Smyth’s.

Oh, how the boys indulged. It’s so weird but toys are actually really quite hit-and-miss with our two. Obviously, they get excited whenever they get new toys, but more often than not they forget all about them within 15 minutes. They’ll have just moved on and they end up in their corner of unused toys. That wasn’t the case this time around – at all!

Winter Bear’s House playset

It’s the playset that gets the most attention from both of them. Every day they make a routine of playing with Masha, Bear (both articulated figures) and the snowman that lives outside the house. Marlo likes to feed all of the characters, while Cameo likes to take them adventures around the front room and then return home for them to watch TV. It’s a great playset with lots of movable parts and it looks exactly like Bears house on the TV! This toy is brilliant for pure imaginative play. There are no batteries required so it’s literally good to go!

43cm Standing Plush Bear

After playing with them for a little while, it was quickly decided between them that absolutely all of the plushies in their beds had to leave and that each of them would now sleep with a bear each. Myself and Chiino adore the large one. At 43cm it really is massive. It feels really sturdy and it’s extremely huggable, so we know exactly why Cameo made it a priority to claim it. It’s amazing how it looks just like Bear from the programme, there’s no mistaking it! It’s also pretty amazing how it stands up by itself which seems to fascinate the boys too!

Masha and the Bear Plush Bear and Small Doll

Marlo took ownership of this duo, and he loves his choice too. He can stand Masha up and have Bear as his bedroom reading companion. (He’s gone to bed with Bear every night since he got him!) The Bear measures 25cm tall and is made from super soft plush. Masha measures 12cm and is wearing her signature pink outfit. Masha is calculated so you can move her arms etc, which always adds to the fun. These are great for role play and imaginative play, it’s amazing watching the boys create their own Masha and Bear scenes.

We love character-focused toys and all of the new additions to our home have been very well received by our little ones. I have to recommend them for any young fans of Masha & The Bear, they’ll go down an absolute treat!

The Masha & Bear toys are available from Smyth’s.
