Cleaning has kind of gone viral over the past few years and I definitely feel as though I missed the boat. I hate cleaning. OK, that’s not quite right. I hate spending time cleaning. The actual cleaning itself I quite enjoy! I guess the truth is that I just don’t have much time to clean. Balancing full-time work and two little ones is tough going at the best of times. But the extra mess that comes with two toddlers is… interesting to say the least! Ha! I mean, I’ve spoken before about how their little hands cause so much mess. Somehow jam ends up on walls and dodgy stains seem to embed themselves on to the floor. I can give things a quick clean but I always feel like the house needs a deep clean. You know where you’re not just scratching the surface. But time is so precious and while we could hire a cleaner, I feel like our pockets can’t quite stretch that far and I’d need to clean before they actually arrive, so yeah, not for me right now. I guess the key for me is finding products that work well, work quickly and do the jobs I really want to be done. For example, finding a steam mop to clean the floors quicker and better than I can!
We have wooden floors and tiles downstairs. So the front room/dining room floor literally becomes a haven for mud, food and other random stains. I give it a mob over almost every day which lifts the stains but I know that it’s not really cleaning the floor. It’s not getting that embedded dirt up. I just know! Because when I get on my hands and knees to scrub the floor, I can see that hidden dirt coming up. But come one now, I’m going to have the time to do that once a month if I’m lucky. So can we all give Shark a huge round of applause for making my life 100 times easier? I’ve been trialling the Shark Klik n’ Flip steam mop cleaner and I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s changed my life. Am I getting old because I haven’t been this excited about something for a long time!
What is the Shark Klik n’ Flip Steam Mop
It’s an electric mop that cleans the floor with steam. It means you don’t have to use harsh chemicals (so Marlo can keep eating his cereal off the floor no matter how many times I tell him not too) because the steam deep cleans the floor. The Klik n’ Flip system means that you can take the cleaning pads off without having to touch them. This might seem a bit of an odd idea, but let me be totally honest with you here. When you have kids, they will vomit and poo everywhere. Especially when you’re potty training. They’ll have a wee in the corner and laugh about it, while you’re left wondering what towel you’re going to ruin right now. Well no more! It’s things like this that make the Klik n’Flip system worth its weight in gold.
Is the Shark Klik n Flip Steam Mop easy to use?
If I used it, then so can you. I love technology and new appliances but much prefer that they arrived ready to go. You have to assemble the Shark steam mop but it takes about 2 minutes. There are no tricky things to put together and there’s a quick start guide so you can get cleaning those floors within 5 minutes.
Actually using the steam mop is even easier. You fill it up with water using the jug provided, plug it in, switch it to the setting that you want (it has three steam settings), give it a minute to heat up and get cleaning! It really is that easy. It also has a steam time of up to 15 minutes before needing more water which I think is really efficient considering how effective it is at cleaning.
Does it really clean the floor?
Yes. Absolutely yes. ook at my before and after pictures. I’m just your average mum with pretty average dirty floors and look at the difference. No filters nothing, just my hallway floor, before and after. Pretty impressive huh?
The Shark steam mop really is a great piece of cleaning equipment. It cleans all types of hard and sealed floors and sanitises 99.9%* of common household bacteria. To sanitise an area, like that potty training corner, you just flip the mop head over and you can clean twice! No effort required. This also lets you give the area a quick steam blast. It’s a direct blast of superheated, concentrated steam that’s great for tough stains or for areas you want to make sure are super clean.
The microfibre mop pads themselves are also made to help lift stubborn stains and they’re quick drying too so they don’t start to smell damp which is a massive pet hate of mine. We’ve washed ours a couple of times now and although they never go back to looking white, they’re still working wonders.
Any Down Sides?
The actual unit itself is a little bit heavy and isn’t fee standing. But it does have a large handle which can hook over things so you can store it away and don’t have to propr it against the wall all the time. It’s also corded which I’m still trying to get my head around. I’m used to a cordless hoover so it keeps playing tricks on my mind. But both of these aren’t real issues and I’ll soon get used to the cord. On the plus side, the cord is quite generous in size so I haven’t had to keep changing plugs halfway through my cleaning which is always a good thing.
Would you really recommend it?
If you’ve got this far in, you should have realised that I am totally sold on the Shark steam mop and gutted I haven’t had one earlier. I think it’s great value for money. I’ll be using it at least once a week for a deep clean and the actual difference in my floors is wild. They look clean but REALLY clean. I can actually see the original colour of the floors! The steam mop does such a good job that I could slide along the floor in my socks. It’s so good that I’m about the buy the carpet glider attachment which freshens up and deodorises your carpets. It’s in my basket right now and as soon as I click publish on this post it will be on its way to me! I highly recommend the Shark Klik n’ Flip Steam mop and like I said before, I’m probably a little too excited about how good it is!
