Baby C has just turned 1 years old and the past few months have been seriously up and down for us. With everything from allergic reactions to time in intensive care, to say it’s been a walk in the park is an understatement. Being a new mum puts so many doubts into your head. That maternal instinct is there, but everything is still a learning curve you know? Everything is so new! That’s why when a brand that I know and already trust brings something for babies to the market, well; it’s a little sigh of relief. Dove has done just that. The skin care brand that I’ve used and known for years has launched their brand new range of baby care products. It offers complete care for delicate baby skin. I’ve used their moisturiser and body creams for years and have always had great results, so I expected nothing less when it came to testing the new Dove Baby products.
I gave the Baby Dove Rich Moisture Wipes and Nappy Cream a go. The Baby Dove Rich Moisture Range is for babies with normal to dry skin. The range is hypoallergenic; clinically proven to minimise allergy risks, pH neutral and the cleansers are tear-free. There is also a fragrance-free Sensitive Moisture range. As I mentioned earlier, Baby C had an allergic reaction recently and with tests not booked until January we’re being super careful with what we put on his skin. We think it’s probably a food allergy but we’re not sure. So I was pleased that the rich moisture range takes into account how different babies skin is to ours.
In terms of the wipes, I found them to be really robust and quite thick. They weren’t too wet but had silky moisture to them. I found that they didn’t make Baby C’s face red when I cleaned his tomato-based dinner off his chin, forehead, neck and ears! (How does food get everywhere!) I did use them to wipe his bottom a couple of times and found that they didn’t encourage redness or struggled to clean up the mess. They were definitely soft and strong. As gentle as water, dermatologically tested and pediatricially approved the range is safe to use even on newborns. That’s one less thing for new mums to worry about!
Baby C does suffer from a sore bottom quite often. As he has gotten older his skin has become more and more sensitive. The past couple of months he has also had a bad case of eczema, another reason it’s been a rollercoaster! But the Baby Dove Rich Moisture Nappy Cream was really light and soothing. It did help reduce redness and a little goes a long way. It was a bit wetter than the cream I usually use but that didn’t seem to make a difference. It spread out really well and there was no shouting from Baby C so it clearly gave him a bit of relief.
Both of these products have a soft and subtle fragrance to them. It’s like the generic fresh Dove fragrance but lighter. They were great quality products and from a brand that I trust to look after my own skin as well as my baby. Once we’ve got to the bottom of Baby C’s allergies and eczema I wouldn’t hesitate to try rest of the products in the Baby Dove Rich Moisture Range. Especially the shampoo, I love giving him different styles in the bath…. Is that just me?
