We are loving being a family of 4 at the moment and Cameo has just reached the age (and height) where he can go on little rides and do little activities when we go to theme parks or funfairs. He is a little adrenaline bean and I can’t believe it. I thought he’d be one of the toddlers that vomited and cried. But he proved me wrong!
We recently went on a family day trip to Diggerland and had a fabulous time. I was intrigued. I mean the name says it all, it’s a land all about diggers! Cameo’s dream to be honest. I’m not sure what it is about little boys and diggers but they are so intrigued by them. Maybe it’s a little Bob the Builder mixed with the sheer size and bright yellow. But Cameo loves them and we knew Diggerland would go down a storm.
There are Diggerland locations. We went to the Yorkshire site. It’s easy to get to with lots of nearby signs for directions. As with all Diggerland locations, you can ride, drive and operate REAL diggers, dumpers and other full- size construction machinery. The parks are aimed at children between 4 and 14 years of age. Cameo is 2 (and a half) and had a great time. He is 90cm tall and was perfect for most of the rides as long as daddy went on with him. There were a few bigger ones he couldn’t go on but it just means we’ll go back when he is a bit bigger.
There was also a really large soft play area for the boys to play in, with a mini Litte Tikes play area where Marlo could crawl around in and let off some steam. Cameo loved the soft play area. It really was a large area and it was right near to the lunch spot. They have a reasonably priced café on site but we took our own packed lunch (just added some chips from the café because we couldn’t resist the smell!)
Diggerland is open on weekends and school holidays. Considering this, we didn’t have any large queues and got to go on everything in a timely manner. We went on a super hot day so make sure you’ve got lots of suncream, hats etc because there’s hardly any shade. It’s also pretty dusty so be prepared to get a little dirty!
We’ll definitely be going back to Diggerland. There are modified diggers that you can sit on and be swung around, giant diggers that drive you around and over hills. You can use a digger yourself and move rocks and there small rides for the little ones that you can pay to use. It’s definitely a full day out and we’ll definitely be going back.
