I remember when Cameo was born, I didn’t know anything about babies! What they should be doing and when? No idea! It was a bit of a guessing game and even now with baby number two, I’m still looking things up to see where we should be. It’s so hard to not compare your little one to others or worry that your bundle of joy isn’t where they should be. This is where Emma’s Diary and their baby milestones pages come in to help.

It’s a great resource for finding out where your little one should be. It helps you track month by month baby development. At the time of writing this Marlo is 14 months old. The Emma’s Diary Baby Milestones pages say that he should be sleeping more soundly during the first half of the night. It’s actually spot on! He is much easier to put down now and sleeps easy for a few hours before waking up. He actually slept through the night last night (but the night before woke up every hour!) It’s a comforting feeling knowing that you have a little guide to refer to for guidance. Even if it isn’t where we are now, I know it’s what we should be aiming for.

It also says at this point they can give kisses and Marlo can! I don’t know if he knows what he is doing but it is THE BEST thing when he comes over for a kiss and a cuddle. He is just so cute my heart could burst! Here’s a little run down of the Milestones you can expect your little one to go through over the first 24 months of their glorious little life.

Like I said earlier, comparison really can be the thief of joy. So always remember that babies are unique and grow at different rates. Don’t worry if your little one doesn’t match the milestone patterns exactly. They might be a few weeks ahead on some things and slightly behind on others. We’re slightly behind on Marlo drinking out of a cup but I remember Cameo took ages to do this and he still struggles, but on the other hand, Marlo was waking a couple of months before that expected milestone. It usually evens out over time. However, if you’re concerned that your child has missed one or more important milestones, speak to your health visitor or GP.
