Do you know when they said that parenting doesn’t come with a manual? Well, they weren’t wrong were they? Cameo is now 4 years old and has school looming in the near future. (where has my baby gone!) and we’ve gone from clapping and cheering at him for walking two steps to suddenly having to teach him to write and spell, say his letters phonetically and keep him entertained while doing it. Oh and not losing your patience is also vital. I’m not a teacher and I also lack patience, so that’s not a great combination which is why I’ll take all the help I can get. When I saw the Edusystem Carotina Writing School set, I knew it would really, really help Cameo with his writing.

He’s doing great already, I’ve checked in with his pre-school teachers and they all say that he’s writing is brilliant and he has perfected writing his name. (The curly is still a little tricky but he is almost there). We wanted something to help him form all of his letters and his teacher at pre-school had already been encouraging us to help him trace letters. We didn’t have tracing paper so out came the greaseproof paper – you make do, right?! But here’s where the system Carotina Writing School set came in and has been a great success.

It’s a little mini table which can go on top of your normal table or even your little one’s lap. It comes with several worksheets with various letters and numbers on them. You pop these onto the mini table, put a blank piece of paper on top, switch the mini table on; which then lights up and then your little one can get tracing! It helps your little one form letters and numbers, develops their hand-eye coordination and improves their dexterity. Overall, it’s a complete winner for preschoolers and young children. It also includes stencils which Cameo wasn’t so keen on, but the worksheets that he could trace really worked! The worksheets include everything from shapes, letters, numbers, various lines and even little pictures. You can of course use your own sheets that you’ve written on to trace. He’s also used it to copy pictures of Elsa from Frozen because all work and no play just doesn’t happen in our house!

The entire set includes an A4 size light table (batteries not included), a learning programme of 16 worksheets, blank paper, 4 markers, 2 stencils with letters, numbers and shapes, and instructions. It’s great value for money and is a little different to getting a workbook or just writing normally. It makes it more exciting and engaging. It’s easy to set up and fun to do, plus it makes me feel like I’m winning at mum life! Winning all around really.
