As you probably know by now, Cameo and I have been sharing our little eczema journey over the past year along with Epaderm. To finish off the campaign I thought it was a good idea to ask if YOU had any questions. So I did a shout out on my Instagram stories and these are the main questions that came up. If you have any more eczema related questions I’d always suggest heading to see your GP as your first point of call.
- How did you know Cameo had Eczema?
I remember it so well! But it looked as though he came out in a rash at first so we thought he’d had an allergic reaction. Eventually, as it spread over his legs, the doctor diagnosed it as eczema. Don’t be hard on yourself if you don’t know what’s going on with your little one’s skin straight away. Being a new parent is hard work without throwing other things into the mix!
- Did Cameo’s Eczema ever get better?
It’s always a hard one to answer because it’s so much better now than when he was a baby. Now it’s just on his legs and is pretty mild, but his skin is generally very very dry. So even though it could be great today, tomorrow he could have a flare-up. So we just make sure we moisturise him daily to make it feel more comfortable. He doesn’t complain about it any more. He has got used to his dry skin.
- Epaderm is a bit expensive, isn’t it?
Depending on your budget, it can seem a little pricey but it really does go a long way. So in Boots right now a huge 500g is £12.49 but this can be used as shower gel, bath cream and body cream so actually it’s value for money. Also, it’s worth noting that Cameo’s Epaderm was actually given to us on prescription from the doctor due to his eczema.
- Can I use this as a normal cream or is it just for babies/eczema?
Epaderm emollient is a fab moisturiser just for general use. It’s non-greasy and really soft, so I sometimes steal Cameo’s! haha!
- What causes your little one’s eczema? We’re struggling to see what makes our little ones worse.
I wrote about this over on the Epaderm blog recently. We were in the same boat until we started using their tracker. Now we know what could potentially make Cameo’s eczema flare-up. So cold weather, being wet for too long, grass etc. Have a go at the tracker and see if it helps you notice a pattern or specific things that happen when you’re little one has a flare-up.
