We’re in the final days of spring, last weekend the clocks went forwards which mean’s it’s officially British Summer Time and it’s not long before the seasons change and we’re fully in Summer. Luckily as things heat up (literally), lockdown is starting to cool off, it looks like this Summer family parties and backyard BBQs are back on the menu!

Now, most of us haven’t hosted guests at home for parties like this in over a year, so now is the perfect time to freshen up your home. We’re getting a double whammy of getting the Sun out and having friends round, so getting some DIY sorted now should be on the cards, so you don’t have to worry about your décor when it’s time to have guests again.

Because of that, I’ve put together some home décor projects you can undertake to get your home ready for Summer 2021!!!

Keep Cool With New Shades

Having the right window shades in Summertime can be incredibly helpful when the weather starts hitting 30°c every day. Windows around your home will essentially help turn your home into a giant greenhouse, so making sure you have some made to measure solar reflective blinds can make a world of difference in your home.

While this doesn’t seem like a big project, it can be incredibly impactful. Keeping cool indoors with solar reflective blinds means that you won’t need to run up your electricity bill by having a fan on all day and help create a nice refuge from the heat when it starts to get warm.

Get Summery With your Colour Palette

Throwing some bright, vibrant colours into your home’s colour palette is a great way to give any room in your house a more ‘Summery’ feel to it. This project is very open ended, just add colour to your home any way you want to!

You could go big by repainting a room or making a feature wall, or you could play it low stakes by just getting bright, colourful furnishings such as scatter cushions to use around your home. Whatever way you approach this, you’ll end up with a nice warm feeling in your home which is great for hosting.

Bring Nature Into Your Home

The final project to inject some Summer energy into your home, is bringing nature in. Yes this sounds a bit hippy-dippy, but let us explain! Recently the design world has had a new trend of ‘Biophillia’ which just means lover of nature, this is a concept where you merge the indoors with the great outdoors by bringing flowers, plants and natural tones into your home’s design.

So, to really take advantage of this trend and use it at home, you can simply just get a variety of flowers and plants and keep them around your home in sunny spots. Nice potted plants always make for good interior décor pieces and with the variety of plants available to you, it’s easy to find new plants that will fit in with your home’s design scheme.
