I doubt most of us will be going abroad on holiday this year. With all the events over the last year, uncertainties are at an all-time high when it comes to jumping on a plane. But one amazing thing that’s come out of the last year, is the rise in staycations! The UK has so much to offer and it looks like this year, more people than ever will realise just how stunning the UK can be.

I recently stayed at a lovely little boutique retreat in North Wales. The Wonder Wagon at Trelan Farm. Nested on a family farm, surrounded by cows and sheep, in the foothills of the Clwydian Range. The Wonder Wagon was original a trailer that was part of the fleet at the local John Summer’s Steelworks in Flintshire but it has been lovingly converted into a boutique retreat. It’s a gorgeous space, with an open plan kitchen and living area, double bedroom space and bathroom with shower. But its real show shopping unique selling point is its glorious outdoors bath.
You can live it up in a generous sized bath, with complimentary bubbles, overlooking the gorgeous countryside, listening to the cows and sheep. If you’re lucky you might see some cute spring lambs jumping around. One big tip is to grab the sunset while you’re in the bath. The golden hour makes you feel like you could be in a romantic novel.

As you’d expect, the Wonder Wagon is self-catering, so while we were there I had an amazing breakfast treat delivered. The amazing ethical, sustainable online farm shop 44 Foods has the perfect start to your holiday – the Staycation Bundle and they’ll deliver it to your UK destination, just like ours! The staycation bundle was a breakfast dream. It was a freshly prepared box of hearty breakfast goodies, that could easily make a very happy lunch too.

The Staycation Bundle (£22.50) contains Dry Cured Back Bacon (amazingly thick and tasty), Sliced Everyday Harvest Loaf (super fresh!), Cacklebean Mixed Chicken Eggs (which looked stunning!), Cotswold Salted Butter, Mudwalls British Apple Juice (stolen by my boys when I got home!), Whole milk Yogurt Selection, Fresh Semi-Skimmed Milk, Strawberry Jam, British Piccolo Tomatoes (stunning), Ready To Eat Avocado (perfectly ripe).
Such good value for money and can easily serve 4 people. 44 Foods is a new collective of farmers and food producers who are passionate about ethically produced, fairly priced, sustainable food. It really does show in the quality of the food too. Together, they supply fruit and veg, meat and dairy and larder essentials direct from their farms to your door – offering customers a fairer way to shop and promising to pay producers and farmers a fair price. The products speak for themselves one they arrived. Everything was super fresh, and it was like I’d just popped to a local farm shop. Absolutely brilliant and a must have for anyone heading on a UK staycation this year.
We can’t wait to explore more of the UK this year, Trelan Farm was a lovely little boutique escape, and I can’t wait for more! If you have any suggestions let me know!
