I love going on adventures with the boys. It’s always so exciting and I feel like a child again too. We haven’t been abroad yet for many reasons (as you’re probably aware over the last couple of years!) but that means we’ve been trying to explore more of what the UK has to offer. I’ve been to the Cotswolds before when I did a campaign for M&S but going with the boys would be an entirely new experience. So the first weekend of the Christmas holidays we packed our bags and headed on a glamping adventure in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, right in the heart of the Cotswolds!
We stayed on an Experience Freedom site from the Caravan and Motorhome club and I can’t tell you how wonderful our luxury Glamping Pod was. It was small but so cute and had everything we needed. As we drove onto the site, the receptionist was super helpful which was great as we didn’t set off until after the kids finished school and it was around 7 pm so quite dark. She gave us a map and a contact number in case of any problems, which made me feel so much better. But we didn’t need any help as our pod was super easy to find. We had an allocated parking space about 30 seconds away from the pod which was perfect and the boys happily rolled their Trunkies up the path full of excitement. THey couldn’t wait to get inside. The excitement was very real indeed.
Inside the pod had everything we needed including a stove, en-suite toilet and shower, a bunk bed and a pull out double bed from the wall. The boys were thrilled with the bunk bed and couldn’t believe that a bed came from the wall. There was also a decent-sized fridge, microwave, toaster and a disposable BBQ. (There isn’t an oven or a grill but in nice weather, you’d be out using the BBQ anyway!) There was also complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate which I thought was nice. It sleeps 2 adults and 2 children and it’s a good idea to pack light or leave things in the car so you have as much space as possible. In the warmer months, the decking has a table and chairs which would make the space seem so much bigger, but on this cold frosty night, it was so warm and cosy! I wish I could go back right now! The first night I fried some sausages while we looked at the fog building over the trees before we watched a Christmas movie. It really was an amazing way of getting away from everything. It’s incredible how you literally leave your worries behind when you’re on an adventure like this.
Around the corner from the pod was a park with lot’s of play equipment which the boys loved (obviously!) and it’s handy if you want to just chill out at the pod but the kids want to run around. There are lots to do in Moreton-in-Marsh, even if you just stay within walking distance. We were lucky that the market was on which was a fab little look around. There are lots of little shops, restaurants and cafes. I spent way too much in the Cotswolds Cheese shop! It’s a really beautiful place to visit. Slightly further afield there are farms, falconry and even tuk tuk tours you can take. Plus, if you forget anything there’s a couple of large supermarkets nearby too plus, if you still need to check your emails like me, there’s free wifi too.
The pod went down amazingly with the boys. I can’t believe how well they slept considering it was somewhere new. It really was so nice to break away from the everyday routine and go on a new adventure. We enjoyed some gorgeous fresh air and amazing views and created some lovely family memories. We can’t wait to head back to a pod in the Spring. I know the boys will jump for joy when they find out!
